ISHAN PATEL FEEDBACK

PHASE 1 ATPL FEEDBACK

AGK

I passed this subject overall it was not a bad exam to be honest all I can say is know your stuff! The
reason as to why I say this is because there were a lot of brand-new questions in my exams! I had
approximately 15 electric’s questions about 15-20 Gas Turbine subjects a few piston engines and a
few systems question. I personally enjoy this subject. The rest were new questions re worded.

NEW QUESTION

WHERE WOULD YOU FIND A SMOKE DETECTOR (quadrant question select four)

 APU
 CABIN REST AREA
 ENGINE
 CARGO
 TOILETS
 FORGOT WHAT THIS WAS BUT ITS WAS CORRECT

Fuselage structure of a modern transport aeroplane:(210033)

INVERTER

A piston engine compression ratio is the ratio of the

Total volume to the clearance volume

In case of smoke in the cockpit, the crew oxygen regulator must be set to

100%

Turbine engine intake anti-icing uses:

Hot air from the compressor

According to Pascal’s Law, if pressure is exerted on a hydraulic fluid within an enclosed system the
pressure will

Increase equally throughout the fluid, and act at right angles to the container walls

How many fusible plugs are fitted to each wheel and tyre? (please be very careful with this
question as they try to trick you in the way they present this question. READ the question don’t
just rely on feedback

One or more, on the inner half of the wheel

Hard-time maintenance

A component that is overhauled or replaced after a set number of hours, cycles or operations
ISHAN PATEL FEEDBACK

Best technique to braking during taxi?

With steel brakes, use lots of small applications

Why would an APU shutdown?

High EGT

What indications are typically available during APU start?

Fault Status

How do you start the APU?

Dedicated switch

There were a LOT !!!!!! of questions on WET, HOT, HUNG, start questions. I was very lucky that I read
up on it. They are picking things out of the learning objectives that they haven’t targeted. Do you
research look at what’s trending. For electric’s read up on the main parts very similar to Bristol but
beware of the new question they have released, that’s all I can remember for now.

POF

This exam was terrible, I passed it very well actually but when I came out, I felt like its game over. I
luckily got away as I only had 5-7 type in. where as some people had about 11. With POF you need to
learn how to use the formula and get rid of the irrelevant stuff they are asking. Use Bristol and
golden feedback also I suggest you use this one as well because I have the answers that I can confirm
are correct.

A pilot is testing out the stalling characteristics of his aeroplane close to the stall. Calculate the
coefficient of lift. (CONVERT INTO SI UNITS !!!!!!!!!)

Wing area: 13.5m^2

Density: 1.225 kg/m^3

Speed: 55 kts

Weight: 1300kg

Assume g = 9.81

a) there is not enough information to calculate the coefficient of lift

b) 1.78

c) 1.52

d) 0.31

A forward CG shift:

- increases static longitudinal stability.

- has no influence on longitudinal manoeuvrability.

- decreases static longitudinal stability.

- increases longitudinal manoeuvrability.

In straight and level flight at a speed of 1.3 VS, the lift coefficient, expressed as a percentage of its
maximum CLMAX, would be: Differente speed

A: 59%

V²increases by a factor of 1.3 x 1.3, which = 1.69 So the value of CL in the formula must reduce by a
factor of 1.69

What is the SI unit of power?

A: Hectopascal

B: The Watt

C: The Joule

D: PSI
ISHAN PATEL FEEDBACK

What is the VA of an aircraft with a Vs of 70kts and limit load factor of 2.5g? 110.68kts Type in

New Vs = Old Vs x √LF

In a power-assisted control, most of the force is contributed by:

a. Servo actuator

b. Pilot

c. Servo tab

d. Hydraulics

What happens to CL and CD during a stall?

a. CL and CD increase

b. CL stays the same, CD increases

c. CL decreases, CD increases

d. CL and CD decrease

DOES DOWNWASH INCREASE OR DECREASE LIFT!!!! (I can confirm the answer in yellow is 100%
the correct answer because I got this checked out)

Increase

Decrease

No effect

Increase and decrease

Please read the questions very carefully, do not rely on feedback as I have spotted a lot is wrong
however I can confirm that these were some of the questions I got. I cannot remember the type ins
as they were brand new and had a lot of information. Last 200 helped a little bit not that much to be
honest.

HPL

I passed this subject on the dot very lucky to pass this one but at the end of the day it’s a pass, I had
6-7 scenario-based questions only one I can remember is the KLM. Honestly, I was very worried
about this exam but so happy I never have to sit it again.

HYPERVENTILATION symptom

Dizzy feeling (WHAT I PUT)

Cyanosis

Cough

In a normal nights' sleep, how many bouts of REM sleep usually occur and what is the length of time
between periods of REM sleep?

4-5 periods with approx. 90-120mins between each period (what I PUT)

6-7 periods with approx. 120-140mins between each period

2-3 periods with approx. 30-40mins between each period

9-10 periods with approx. 360mins between each period

What is the audible range of human hearing?

20-2000

Eye question asking what cones are for

Breathing 100% oxygen at 40,000ft is equivalent of breathing ambient air at?

A) 18000

B) 8000

C) 10000.

D) 12000

VFR/IFR

I passed this. Don’t have any questions I can remember a few from Bristol, this exam for me was not
banky at all they had brand new questions. I think the key to passing this is honestly know that small
book and it’s also your luck if you get a banky exam. VFR was harder than IFR in the EASA exam some
people had mixed opinions sorry I can’t give too much as it was very different for everyone.
However, I passed both.

INSTRUMENTS

I love this subject I passed it quite well actually, I had about 60% last 200 and the rest brand new
questions. The method to passing the new questions is know your S*** because you can’t afford to
lose out on any mark in this paper.

An automatic landing system which can keep on operating without deterioration of its
performances following the failure of one of the autopilots is called

An autopilot system

MET

The worst subject and the hardest exam. Personally, I felt that I got an unlucky paper. I had 6-8
Significant weather charts, 5 METARS and tafs, and altimetry questions long as the queen’s speech.
You read halfway and forget what was said. Only subject I was a bit unlucky. Only advice that I can
give is know your met book inside out. I had zero bank in my exam. I didn’t rely on the bank because
I knew it was not going to come up however, I was only 5 marks away from the pass mark hopefully
pass next time.

WELL THAT’S IT FOR MY FEEDBACK! IF YOU DON’T AGREE WITH THE ANSWERS THAT I HAVE
SELECTED PLEASE DON’T PM ME SAYING WHAT THE ANSWER IS AS I HAVE MENTIONED IS
INCORRECT AS THAT WAS WHAT I FELT WAS CORRECT AND WHAT I PUT IN MY EXAMS. OVEREALL
NOT A BAD SET OF RESULTS ANOTHER 7 SUBJECTS AND THEN OUT OF JAIL.

I WISH YOU THE VERY BEST OF LUCK IN YOUR EXAMS AND REMEMBER ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IF
YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO IT.

BEST OF LUCK
