Description:
We are presenting a video on water purification, it’s uses to people and environment. Our
objective to purify and obtain portable drinking water from a mixture of impurities present in
water. As we know water pollution is a huge problem for people , our project presents a solution
to purify water with ease so that common people can benefit from it.
Major pollutants in the drinking water are sand, iron fillings, alcohol, sodium chloride, caffeine,
bacteria, copper sulphate. All these different pollutants can be filtered and removed by different
techniques. Some techniques are :
 Using magnet to remove iron fillings
 Using separating funnel to remove canola oil
 Using filtration technique sand and fractional distillation to remove other impurities.
We have also made a model using thermocol providing an insight on how industry in our
surroundings is effecting the water bodies. Our model explains deforestation and disturbance in
the natural cycle and how the waste from common house hold is dumped in local drainage which
finally leads to pollution in river bodies.
A survey has also been conducted by the team asking people the following questions:
1) What water system do you have?
2) In average house hold which accounts for most wastage of water?
3) While brushing your teeth how you use water?
4) What is your monthly water bill?
5) How often do you expect water shortage?
