The tapir is a relative of horses and rhinoceros in some ways but it is quite different
from the horses. The tapir is the same as horse in the sense that both have odd hoofed legs.
A tapir is usually heavy and clumsy. It is smaller than a rhinoceros and has no
horns. Its head looks like a pig’s head. Like the rhinoceros, it has small eyes and short ears.
The tapir’s tail is short, too.
Tapirs live in swamps and streams. You can usually find them in jungles and forests
of Malaysia, Thailand, Sumatera and other tropical countries. They like to hide themselves
among the leaves and tall grasses. They sleep during the day and search for food only at
night.
Tapirs are herbivores. They eat leaves, fruits and other vegetation. Their senses of
hearing and smelling are very good. They are also good swimmers and often find protection
in the water.

The book review
An interesting story to read. The story tells us about one of the best ways to test the
humbleness and politeness of a person. The story is about Tuan Yusuf, a rich farmer who
invited the poor children to his house everyday to collect some buns for themselves and their
family. This is because for a long time the village had dried up and there is no more paddy to
eat. One day, Salbiah, one of the poor children who is an honest girl willing to return the
money that she had found in the bun to Tuan Yusuf. In return, Tuan Yusuf gave her some
money and she lived happily with her family.

Read the report below carefully and answer the questions that follow.

On 20 June 2015, 40 members of the Nature Society of Sekolah Kebangsaan Tengku Fitrie
accompanied by two teachers. Cikgu Faridah Adzim and Cikgu Muhammad Nor Syafiq Bin
Nor Elias, visited the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM). The aim was for the
members to learn more about trees and animals.
We were told by Encik Noradzam Bin Hussin, the officer of FRIM, that trees are used to
make papers. We also learnt some plants can be used as herbs to cure sicknesses. We were
shown the famous “Tongkat Ali” plant and were asked to take a bite of its leaf. It was so
bitter.
We could also see squirrels. The guide told us that the word ‘squirrels’ comes from the
Greek word for ‘shadow tail’. They like to eat all types of nuts.
On the whole, the visit was very educational especially for us who live in town.

The two types of pandas are the Giant Pandas and the Red Pandas. The Red Panda has thick
reddish brown fur and a bushy tail. It lives in the cold mountains of the Himalayas.
The Giant Panda is different from the Red Panda. It is a large bear with black and white fur.
It can only be found in China and like the Red Panda, it lives in the cold mountains. It lives in
bamboo forests and enjoys eating bamboo plants. Giant Pandas are shy mammals. The female
panda gives birth to one or two tiny white cubs. The cubs which look more like mice are born

8.00 Fourth day at camp. Crawled out of tent and made my way to the
