INTRODUCTION
System Overview
1. The CabinVu 123 Door Surveillance System is intended to provide additional security for the Flight crew when
entry to the cockpit is necessary through the flight deck door during flight.
2. Three cameras monitor the area aft of and around the cockpit door and the surrounding corridors and galley
areas.
3. The Flight crew can select and view any of the three images displayed by the appropriate camera in order to
identify and confirm that the approaching personnel do not pose a potential threat before allowing them entry
onto the flight deck.
4. A video monitor (or monitors) can be installed in a central or Left and Right positions enabling both Flight
crew to view the display equally, Control Panels are positioned in close proximity to the monitors.
5. Infra Red illuminators integral to the cameras provide adequate light to distinguish and determine the would be
entrant in darkened conditions.
6. All control and manual switching is done on the Control Panel only, other operational equipment is
fitted at various locations throughout the aircraft, these will be described at a later stage of this Ops
Manual.

Confirm that the relevant cockpit lighting CBs are ‘SET’.
Ensure all overhead lighting in specific areas switched ON
Remove any obstructions from the camera housing.
N.B THE OFF/STBY/ON SWITCH HAS A SPRING LOADED TOGGLE WHICH WILL LOCK AT THE

System Title will be displayed, ”AD Aerospace Ltd CabinVu 123”, after approximately 5 seconds the image from
the LEFT Camera will be displayed on the Monitor, (LEFT Camera image is the Default). The OSD (On Screen
Display) in the bottom right hand corner of the screen will show the text LEFT.
Verify that the image displayed is indeed the surrounding area around the left PAX door and the rear of the cockpit
door corridor
Observe the monitor.
On the FV-1050 Control Panel turn the Brightness control fully anticlockwise. The Brightness of the monitor
will be reduced to a dim glow.
Turn the Brightness control fully clockwise. The Brightness of the monitor will be increased to a “white out”
picture.
Ensure that adjustment is available across the entire travel of the control pot
On the FV-1050 Control Panel turn the Contrast control fully anticlockwise. The Contrast of the monitor will be
reduced to a mid grey picture.
Turn the Contrast control fully clockwise. The Contrast of the monitor will be increased to give a very crisp

covered by the camera (Left) to ascertain visual security.
Press the Camera Select Switch to the up position (Camera +) once more, verify that the image displayed is
indeed the rear of the cockpit door and surrounding area, most importantly ascertain that it is possible to distinguish
if the personnel trying to gain entry to the flight deck are not under any duress. Depending on Company Procedure

Pressing the Camera Select Switch towards ‘Camera +’ will select camera images from LEFT, DOOR and
RIGHT in sequence. Pressing the Camera Select Switch towards ‘Camera -’ will select camera images from
RIGHT, DOOR and LEFT in sequence.
Selecting Standby (STBY) by lifting the Toggle before actuation will switch the Monitor Off although the system
will still have power connected.
N.B. Switching the system ON from Standby by lifting the Toggle before actuation will display the Camera image
that was last displayed on the Monitor.
Darkened Conditions.
Carry out all the above operations in Darkened conditions i.e. limited light. The I/R illuminators are continually
operative when the Power ON/STBY/OFF Switch is in the ON or STBY position.
Select all three camera positions in turn to ascertain quality of displayed images and adjust Brightness and Contrast
controls as necessary to compensate for the varying light conditions.
Lightplate illumination
Background and knob lighting of the Control Panel (FV-1050) is independently controlled by the cockpit lighting
systems and controls.
The CabinVu 123 system is capable of being adapted to a second monitor and control panel which can be used
independently allowing flight crew to view different Camera images. All control functions are the same as the
single system with the exception that if either power ON/STBY/OFF Switch is placed in the OFF position the
complete system will be turned OFF.
