CMET Lucknow was founded in 1999 by Late Mirza B. Beg to impart Maritime
Education in all parts of country. The above Mission and Vision was carried forward by
his son Capt. N. I. Beg and family.
Capt N. I. Beg is ex. Rajendra and has sailed for more than 25 years and apart
from years of teaching experience he also has 14 years of Command experience on
different types of vessels. Late Mirza B. Beg
Today CMET Lucknow prides itself in having more than 30 maritime courses approved by D G Shipping,
Ministry of surface Transport , Govt. of India. In a span of almost 20 years CMET has trained more than 25000
officer and crew.
In 2017 CMET opened its city branches in Lucknow and Mumbai in the name of "HSNA Maritime Education
and Research."
CMET also complies with the training recommendations of IMO, London conducting professional
maritime courses. All courses conducted are in compliance with Standards of Training Certification and Watch
keeping (STCW 1978 as amended).

NEW JOB OPPORTUNITY AT SEA AFTER BST COURSE


To create new job opportunity for aspiring young generation, Government of India has eased rules for
issue of Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC)-cum-Seafarers' Identity Document, removing the hurdles for
those intending to work on ships. A person is not eligible to work on ships without a CDC.
Career Prospects
After successful completion of BST and STSDSD courses and on issue of Continuous Discharge
Certificate (CDC) candidates shall be eligible to seek job in Indian or Foreign Shipping Companies as crew . This is
benefitting thousands of Indians looking to work on board cruise liners as bartenders, house-keeping staff and
laundrymen, and also in other ships in various capacities. Also opens opportunities ashore in port duties.
Age Limit:
Age – Minimum 18 years on the date of commencement of course.
Qualification and Eligibility for Basic Safety Training course:
Qualification – minimum 10th pass from a recognised Education Board or ITI from recognised university.
Physical Standards:
Medically fit including eye sight and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical
Examination) Rules, 2000 and Merchant Shipping ( Medical Examination). Amendment Rule 2016 as amended
from time to time.

Certificate:
On successful completion of course at CMET Lucknow, the institute will apply CDC on behalf of
candidates. The CDC would be delivered direct to the home address of the candidates to seek employment in Indian
and Foreign companies.

Advanced Welding Workshop Training Course for Marine Fitters /Welders:


We conduct combined course designed specially for candidates who have obtained CDC after doing
BST courses. This course covers training as welder, gas cutter, fitter, plumber and wire man. The Training is
imparted with detailled practical by heighly qualified and experienced mariners and chief engineers.
Age Limit : Minimum 18 years
Qualification & Eligibility for Job on Ships ; Possession of Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC)
after doing BST courses.

In present times to reduce work load during ship dry dock repairs, most ship owner / operators place
Repair /Riding Team of Marine Fitters /Welders on ship. They are required to have good knowledge of repair job .
This course is specially designed for Ships Repair / Riding Team of Welders & Fitters to fully acquaint
them with the relevant safety precautions to be observed, the requisite knowledge of various welding equipment
and processes, proper electrode and welding parameters selection and practical skills to efficiently execute various
repair jobs on plates and pipes of various materials in various location on ship.
This course also provides opportunity of jobs in shipyards, ports and in commercial organization /
factories in India and abroad.

Orientation Course for Catering Personnel (OCCP) :


CMET Lucknow is also conducting Orientation Course for Catering Personnel for candidates holding
Diploma/ Degree in Catering for employment in Merchant Navy. The eligible candidates will not be required to
undergo a full-term Saloon Rating Course or other pre-sea courses covering such subjects. They shall now undergo
ONLY familiarization & orientation course of 12 days, followed by 2 weeks of Basic Safety Training Courses.
Eligibility for the course
1. Candidates who have completed a Degree/ Diploma in Hotel Management from recognized and reputed board
or university.
2. Age between 18 to 28 years.
3. The candidates should have scored a minimum of 40% marks in English language at 10th / 12th standard
examination.
\4. Physical standards as per merchant shipping (Medical Examination rule 2000) and ammendment rule 2016, as
amended from time to time.

Course Profile
I. 12 days of fully residential course followed by BST course 2 weeks duration.
II. The course for batch of 20 candidates is conducted each month.
III. OCCP course covers the familiarization & orientation to Marine Industry with extra emphasis on ships
operations procedures & rules / regulations, as per guidelines of D.G Shipping.

Shipping approved medical center at Lucknow.
Course Fee Structure
V. The selected candidates will be required to stay at CMET campus during the whole course.
VI. Consolidate fee is Rs 35,000/- This includes course fee of OCCP course, Basic Safety Training course, INDoS
and CDC application. Also incluiding, boarding, lodging during course.

Catering Staff on Passenger/ Cruise ships


²A cruise ship or cruise liner is used for pleasure voyages, where the voyage itself and the ship's
amenities are a part of the experience, as well as the different destinations along the way.

Normal catering staff on a cruise liner is as follows:

² Food & beverage production staff- required On all Merchant Naval Ships

Remunerations :
Merchant Navy is one of the few careers where the salary is relatively high. In catering department,
it can range anywhere between Rs. 20000 to Rs.4 lacs per month. The salary is Tax free if away from India
for over 186 days in a financial year. Life in merchant navy can be adventurous for all those with
wanderlust.

instructors with a vast Indian Navy and Merchant Navy experience. All practical training for fire rescue or
