Design features implemented in the product (challenges):


The Motor which were being used earlier was found to be Robust and also had a large lead time,
So we had to find a suitable motor and also it had to meet the Required specification,

Specification Required: INTERNAL
Torque Min 1000Nm
Speed 15RPM to 30RPM Motor For Ex (MU 600-1400)
P=4,4kw
We have
Example Specification For MU 600-1400
Start Torque= 30 Nm
Max Torque = 45 Nm
Speed =1400 RPM

As per my understanding power should be constant to carry load


on the Winder machine
P= 4,4kw

so
power = Torque X Speed

P1 =T1 x S1
P2 = T2 x S2

LHS =RHS
T1 x S1 = T2 x S2

S1\S2 = T2\T1

from the above values


we have S2 =934 RPM

By varying speed and torque we can keep power constant


so input speed can be altered to obtain the required output(Speed
& torque)
Speed Reduction in a Pneumatic motor INTERNAL

The Speed Reduction Can be done by using Throttle valve, This means reducing speed and
Increasing Torque or viceversa

Motor data calculator- MU600-75 would have 971,06 Nm at 20 RPM;
On 16RPM load the motor would run 1000Nm

So By throttling the motor with a valve and maintaining speed at 16RPM


We can achieve a torque of 1000Nm.

The Radial Load acting is 3500N, But actual load is 10800N, So we had to choose
for a Bearing to be fixed to the Winder shaft to balance the Radial load acting on the shaft.

Selection of a Bearing

There has to be Two Bearing one at each 10800/2=5400N.

Selection of a bearing: 6220-2RS1

Bearing Available from SPX Bearing manufacturer to withstand a load of 10800


At both ends was 6220-2RS1. It Can with stand upto 127KN Dynamic load,

Re-structuring of Fabric Equipment
The Structure had to be Re-structured as there was interference while assembling
In the main assembly, the width of frame which was 2000mm to be reduced to 1700mm.

The Bed and Pedestal to be made Symmetrical which earlier was not made, So the same
Frame work could be used for front and back, also the frame work was provided with
The bolting connection so it can be easily Assembled and Re-Assembeled.
The Bottom Frame height increased for providing Steps for maintaince.

Pedestal
1.Earlier there had to be 3 Different Pedestals(Front and Back) for Manual, Pneumatic
and Hydralic Fabric Equipments-Replaced with one pedestal for all the Fabric Equipment.
2.The Pedestal had to be Redesigned for Assembling the Bearing.
3.The Pedestal to be Redesigned with minimum no of components.
4.The pedestal to withstand a load of 10800N.

BOTTOM PEDESTAL

The Bottom Pedestal is the part which is fixed by means of


Bolted connection to the Frame assembly at the Bottom.

TOP PEDESTAL

The Top Pedestal is the part which gets assembled to the Bottom
Pedestal by means of a link .

LINK

The link connects the Top and Bottom pedestal and Top pedestal
Can be rotated to 180Deg.

KNOB

The Knob used for locking Top and Bottom pedestal.

The Back Pedestal is similar to Front pedestal execpt it


Does not have Bearing clip and Support bracket.

FASTENING FLANGE Bearing shoulder length and radius

The Fastening Flange has been modified to suit the


Requirement of the winder, so the same winder shaft
Can be used for Manual, Pneumatic and Hydralic.Execpt
with small modifications.
The Fastening Flange has a step made to fix the Bearing
and also a slot has been cut for providing the bearing clip.
There is a keyway slot been cut for connecting the shaft
and Hand wheel.

CONNECTING SHAFT

The connecting shaft has been modified to connect both Fastening Flange and
Handwheel so the relative motion to be transfered from Hand wheel to the winder.
There is a Hole created on the shaft and on the Flange, the two holes are aligned
while asembling and pin is intorduced inside this, so this pin will keep the
assembly in tact.

RATCHET WHEEL DESIGN CHANGE

NEW RATCHET OLD RATCHET WELDED RATCHET STOPPER FOR RATCHET

The old ratchet had been fixed to the Manual winder shaft only by friction,
So we had redesigned it and welded the Ratchet wheel to the shaft.
In this case we can use only one Ratchet wheel at one end, the other end
need not have a Ratchet wheel as only one stopper provided at one end
only.
