Democorruptcy

With almost 8 months before the 2016 General Election in our country, people can’t
get enough of who will replace our President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Cojuangco
Aquino III and continue his “Tuwid na Daan” platform that every people wanted to have.
The Philippine General Election will be held on the 9 th day of May 2016. On this day, we
will determine the 16th President of the Philippines. Most of us are waiting for this day to
come to see who will take the most coveted seat that our President Benigno Simeon
“Noynoy” Cojuangco Aquino III will leave. Many politicians had made known their
intentions to run for the 2016 election. This election for 2016 showed the possible
president-to-be through Pulse Asia Survey. This election for Presidency happen every
six (6) years on the second Monday of May. The Philippines, our country, has a
democratic style of leadership. This mean that Filipinos have the right to be a candidate if
he or she will meet the given requirements showed in the 1987 Constitution of the
Philippines. Therefore, the Filipinos should vote wisely because they will be the outcome
of their own future.

The Philippine General Election must be done fairly and according to our law we
have. Voters should do every obligation we gave for our country and think about how one
vote can affect everything for our future. According to Miliband ( 2015 ), “Am I tough
enough? Hell, yes, I am tough enough.” Like what Ed Miliband said, our leaders must be
confident enough to face our nation and our people in order to face our country’s
problem and difficulties. Candidates who are truly dedicated to what they’re doing must
be the people who thinks about the others before himself or herself. Filipinos feel like
being slowly pushed in a cliff from a hill waiting for a hero to come and save the day - a
leader who has the guts or capability to save the country in its poor slammed state. We
need a leader who capitalizes education and employment and adequately will bring
domino effects of good things to the country. In simple words, we need a leader who is
intelligent enough to think and to implement long term plans which may help for the
economy of our country.

Filipinos are wise enough and know the difference between what is right and what is
wrong. They will know and they will vote a leader who will not be blind in our country’s
wealth. Political corruption is the use of powers by government officials for illegitimate
private gain. An illegal act by an officeholder constitutes political corruption only if the act
is directly related to their official duties, is done under color of law or involves trading in
influence (“Political Corruption,” 2006). They had been through even the Americans and
the Spaniards. They want to avoid corrupted leaders who only think for the benefit of
themselves and not for the benefit of our country. Hence, we must choose the right
person in the throne who will listen to us and not only for what he or she wants.
For time to time, one vote can affect many lives in our country. One powerful decision
of our countrymen can change our history forever. It is a powerful tool which we can use
to save our own freedom in our country that’s why lots of advocacy which informs
everyone the right and their freewill to vote. It can affect every life in this country, whether
it will be good or bad, it can change everything in our country. Our future rely on our
countrymen’s vote in choosing who is the deserving leader to take the seat on our nation.
All of us must be aware on what might happen if we vote on him/her for that seat in our
nation. Every thing that a person does have good and bad effect that may happen. We
must just set our minds to aim for the development that might help our country to become
better. Lastly, Filipinos know who should be the right person / s who can make their lives
better.

We have been through the hard times and we, Filipinos, should be wise enough to
choose who will lead our country to development. Even on our history, we had become a
better country; thus, it worse things still happened. Our future depend on our votes and
our leader should not be blind on what our country needed to develop. According to
Asimov (2015), “Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through
our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy or rather
demo-corruptcy means that ‘ my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge. ‘” As we
can see, different race, religion or nation have different problems in its government.
The Philippine General Election must be done with just and we, Filipinos, should use our
votes wisely to help ourselves to have a better life. The road to the 2016 Philippine
General Election is still far from reality. Yet, it is just a must that as early as now we must
know the potential leader to run our country. We need the power of the youth to take over
the dark ages of our country. Now, it is the time for the youth to voice out who really
deserves to take the most - coveted seat of our nation. Stand out and speak up with
honor and pride to know what our dignity, freedom and right really mean!
