Introduction
Module 2: Two-storey non-cyclonic is an assessment of your ability to use both the
ENDUROCADD® software and its related design manuals to design and detail two-storey non-cy-
clonic dwellings.
This assessment has been created to fulfill the requirements of the ABCB Structural Software Pro-
tocol 2011, which is reference by the BCA 2012, as a method to determine competency for detail-
ing two-storey non-cyclonic dwellings.
Successful completion of all elements of this assessment is required:
• to prove you have demonstrated understanding of detailing two-storey non-cyclonic dwellings
• as a prerequisite for becoming a Trained Software user (TSU) of the ENDUROCADD® soft-
ware for
“Module 2: Two-storey non-cyclonic”.
Questions in this document will reference the following framing systems:
• ENDUROFRAME®
• ENDUROWALL®
• ENDUROTRUSS®.

Note: These systems may be substituted for SUPRAFRAME® and SMARTRUSS®. Please
ensure that these systems are specified in answers where appropriate.
Requirements
You must have successfully completed Module 1: Single-storey non-cyclonic prior to this
course. Refer to the table below to determine how you can prove you have passed Module 1.

For applicants that have How this requirement can be demonstrated

the last six months. These jobs must contain:
• more than two common spans in one job (not includ-
ing valley, hip and jack trusses)
• hip or Dutch gable

22.5 degree sheet roof situated in an N2 wind region where wall height is 2700mm, truss span
is 9m, truss centres are 450mm, truss spacing is 1200mm, and floor span is 6m
• jamb stud quantities and material thickness for a Type 1 2200mm wide opening
• appropriate purlin to use with the opening specified above
• design tables used to arrive at your conclusion.

Please highlight all suitable joist section options if you are detailing joists that need to span
5600mm, support a 0.6kPa dead load and a 1.5kPa live load, and you are restricted to a maximum
joist depth of 350mm and rollforming using a 90mm ENDURO rollformer.

You can highlight suitable options using the Highlighter tool. Alternatively, you can print this PDF

Section B
Complete the following task from this section. This training exercise assumes the user can insert a
basic floor and load-bearing walls to support roof framing.
Process the following job using these parameters for a a two-storey dwelling:
• 22.5 degree pitch
• Sheet roof
• N2 wind region
• trusses @ 900 centres
• 450mm overhang (from frame)
• Ceiling load 10mm plaster on battens
• Lower and upper ceiling height of 2400mm
• Step down of 115mm to the single garage
• Floor joists @450mm centres
• External wall studs @450 centres
• Non-load bearing studs at 600mm centres.
Throughout this job, as in practice, various decisions will need to be made during the detailing pro-
cess. Describe the decisions and reasons behind them in the space provided after each numbered
