Holiday Safety Tips: What To Do When Your ATM Card Did Not Dispense Cash But Debited Your

Account.

Christmas season may be the most wonderful time of the year. But among all the things we are looking
forward to, shopping in crowded malls and a long line-up at ATM cash machines seem to be the things
that could dampen the festive mood. Worse, if you experience withdrawing money from an ATM and no
cash comes out and yet it debited your account. What will you do then?

The Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) advises the public on what to do in case undispensed withdrawal as
follows:

First, take note. Write down the date, time, ATM location and other information relevant to your
transaction.

Second, keep your receipt. Photocopy or take a snapshot of it, because some receipts fade overtime.

Third, make a report to your bank immediately. Call your bank hotline and report all details of the
incident.

Fourth, file a formal complaint. In case the incident is not resolved, file a letter complaint with your
bank. Include supporting documents like your receipt and others.

Fifth, report to BSP. If the bank does not act on your complaint, report to BSP. Include all details and
copies of supporting documents.
