OCTOBER 24 , 2010
PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently.

PRAYERS FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-IN: “Let us raise up in prayer those who seek God’s
healing love, those at the hospital, hospice and at home”. We pray especially for Gary Cybulski,
Kay Kasaboski and Gladys McNulty. May your struggle be consoled by Christ’s love“.

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY: This Weekend is World Mission Sunday. Every parish across the world will
celebrate World Mission Sunday. It is a global sign of the Universal Church and mission. Your prayers
and donations will help support churches, hospitals, schools and vocations in countries where the Church is
beginning, where it is new. World Mission Sunday is our chance to assist Catholic Communities throughout
the world become self sufficient and flourish. By sharing the gift of faith we can bring hope and love to
those who need it most.

From the Pastors Desk

Great to be back after our annual retreat. It is truly a gift to spend time in prayer, contemplation and in the relaxed
fraternity of our priests gathered.
I return with gratitude to our parish staff and at this time of year a special thanks to the catechists and program
facilitators who have our confirmation and the “On Our way with Jesus” ministries up and running for another year.
Now we journey together to see their completion.

Soon we will begin a new church year. The Liturgy committee has expanded and is working hard at responding to
your suggestions and requests. Please be thoughtful in bringing forth your suggestions and your willingness to give of
your time and talent to this ongoing effort to worship and celebrate our faith well.

In early November I will be speaking at the monthly CWL meeting. Our Sacramental Preparation programs have
raised some concern amongst parishioners who for the most part do not have children in our parish programs. I look
forward to clarifying and exploring where things are at with the sacrament’s today.

Given time, I am looking into a series of presentations on the history of our church. As we “wonder” about contempo-
rary church issues, it will be insightful to see how our church explored challenges in past times.
Let us continue to share together our ministry of building a welcoming faith community lovingly sharing the gifts of
God.

WOMEN OF BETHANY
What is Women of Bethany? - The Women of Bethany exists in order to offer women a place of hope, refreshment and
renewal. This is done through the ministries of prayer, music, hospitality and teaching. This year our theme is: Isaiah 43:1
“I have called you by name, you are Mine.”
Our guest speaker is Johnnette Benkovic – founder and President of Living His Life Abundantly, a Catholic evangelization
apostolate with outreaches in T.V., radio, print and internet communications. She is also founder of Women of Grace, a Catho-
lic apostolate for Christian women that features a number of outreaches including conferences, curricula, study groups and
more.
As Jesus was refreshed by visiting Bethany, we would like to invite women to enjoy a Bethany experience as we celebrate our
17th Women of Bethany Retreat. Please join us and be renewed in spirit, body, mind and soul. We look forward to sharing the
experience with you.

The Music Ministry Tour – Music Director Julie Larocque is once again touring several parishes in the Ottawa region to pro-
mote the upcoming retreat weekend. She will sing a half hour of Praise & Worship music before Mass that would be typi-
cally sung at our retreat. Julie will be at St. Francis Xavier Parish on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30 TH at 4:30 p.m.
Come early and enjoy!
