Day 1

1st Day of OJT!!!

August 13, 2018

It’s the first day of my OJT and I don’t know what to expect. I don’t know whether to feel
excited or nervous because finally I will be able to experience the so called “real world”.
When I came to the office for my first day, I attended orientation with the HR group.
I noticed that almost all of us in the orientation looked nervous and “friendly” since we are
all in the same boat of not knowing what will happen throughout our OJT experience. We
looked friendly in a way that we smile at each other even if we just saw each other at that
very moment. After the orientation, the real OJT experience started because we were
deployed to our respective units in the hospital. Since I am assigned in the Medical
Records, I didn’t have to go to other.
The people in the Medical Records were very friendly and accommodating that’s why I
felt very welcome in that place as a trainee. My first task was to do paper works and
arrange the admitting papers of the patients. That’s all I did for the rest of the day.
 Day 2
Paper Works!
August 14, 2018

I was excited for my second day of OJT because it’s another day to do my task. To
improve my shyness and consciousness with my pronunciation is my goal for the day. This
time, I became more confident to do paper works. This is what I did the whole day. Paper
works.
 Day 3
Boredom!!!
August 15, 2018

This time, I did paper works again the whole day. I didn’t have much reflection because I
just did the same thing again the whole day. I was so tired because I felt like my hand will
numb because the whole day my hand haven’t rest. My third day of arranging many
papers really made me tired, what more those people who have been doing this job for
more than a month already. I realized that the job of the medical records – doing paper
works is hard because they have to do it for a living. But, it is also good that people in this
field are contractual because they don’t have to do it for the rest of their lives. I salute the
people who do paper works everyday because even if they are in a comfortable place,
sitting the whole day, and has nothing to do but do a paper works, their job is really hard
and very tiring. Thanks to my boredom because I had learning this day. And that’s the end
of my 3rd day.
 Day 4
New Task!
August 16, 2018

It’s my 4th day as an OJT at Socsargen County Hospital. I am excited this day because I
was given a new task. I was tasked to print the names of patients in the index card. When I
am using the computer I see the rate of their salaries, it made me think that life is hard.
Even if the employees work hard and do over times, their salaries are still not that big. I
also think that it’s just enough to sustain their daily living. There are so many works for
them to do, but the salary is quite not suitable for the level of hard work they exert. There
is this one employee who had his over time on a Saturday and he was not able to file it and
he was not paid for the overtime that he did. I find that life is unfair that’s why in the work
place employees should be very competent to have promotions or for them to be able to get
a better job. Doing the compensation and benefits made me think that employees deserve
more benefits than what they are currently getting. But I also think that’s the way of not
letting companies experience bankruptcy and that’s how they measure fairness and
equality. After doing the paper works , I did print names again.
 Day 5
Work Hard!!
August 17, 2018

I don’t know what to expect in my 5th day. I print names again and arrange it by alphabet,
I was doing it by the whole day and im tired. But why other workers are not bored and
they happy about their doing?? They are so fun to see that they are not tired to do the job,
because of that I had a chance to work hard like them. And that’s it for today.
 Day 6
“Ma’am” ??!
August 20, 2018

Today, my supervisor thought me how to photocopy, I made many photocopies of the

names that I made. It is so funny when the other worker calls me “Ma’am” and they really
respect me. I am sure that they don’t know that I’m just an Intern because I act like I’m
really one of the staff/the managers in Socsargen Hospital. It feels good how other people
respect me and they really make me feel that I am respected. It’s an unusual event for me
that other people that I do not know call me with due respect. This day is a great day
because I enjoy what I do.
 Day 7
Tiredness!
August 22, 2018

The same thing again, I did paper works, print names and made photocopies the names
that I made. It made me tired and bored. It so challenge to me that my task is so many and
I can’t finish it by this day I think that it’s not a good impression and it’s not a good start
to back out and then come back. Honestly I tried doing it once and it took me almost half
day to finish.
 Day 8
Not in the Mood!
August 23, 2018

It’s boring me because I do the same thing every day. I easily get bored when I do things
routinely. I checked the papers that I arrange, I finished it with no sweat. I made print
names again. I did many photocopies again. I am kind of not in the mood to work today
and don’t think much of what I will learn today. Even if I am bored and stress I try to be
energetic today. So that’s all for today, Hooray!
 Day 9
Laziness!
August 24, 2018

It’s time for me to work again today. The tasks that I am assigned to are not changing it’s
all the same. I don’t have the drive to come to hospital and be excited on the things that my
immediate supervisor will ask me to do. I did paper works again. Regarding the names of
the applicants that I print I am quite happy with some of the unique names and unique
surnames the applicants have. I also learned that I should be careful in putting the papers
on the table. I don’t have that much reflection because I am quite lazy in going to the
hospital since I don’t experience other areas.
 Day 10
Last Day!!!
August 27, 2018

It's my last day in SOCSARGEN COUNTY HOSPITAL as an intern. I did compensation

and benefits today. I checked if the papers were correctly arrange by alphabetically. I also
check the names that I print. I am kind of sad because I will miss my task and also the
people that welcome me in this hospital and I learned a lot from my OJT experience. How
time flies so fast. I am already quite used to waking up early, go to the hospital, and wait
for 8:00 am. hahaha. I also love the people in SOCSARGEN because they are very
welcoming and accommodating. :)

 REFLECTION

On the Job Training is a part of the curriculum we have to comply with in order to
graduate that is my first impression about OJT. Some says it is an event where we, students
are deployed to the field of the real business world in order for us to gain enough
experience about how to work with other people. Back them i always thought that OJT is
just a pain on our mind because of several requirements we should be preparing for us to
be deployed. I think OJT is just another way for us to gather more data and to understand
more about the agency we were in and the processes they make. Some of my thoughts
about OJT may be right or wrong.

I really appreciate that we have this OJT because it really help me to understand what it
really is having a job. I didn't experience it for real but seeing the personnel doing there job
is learning for me. Observing them, how they deal with clients and to their co-workers. We
did not find it hard working on BFP Daraga because of their approachable and friendly
employees, sometimes we are pressured when they give us a task and we failed to to it.
Those pressure surely give me difficulties before but on the other hand it also gave me
enough confidence to work and to face more difficult task under pressure. The employees
in the BFP always tell us to succeed in life and to do our best to get a decent job, some of
them want us to join the bureau after we graduate. I learn a lot from them, they gave me
ideas about what i may be doing in the future. They made me realize that about the other
things outside the field of work. In the end i believe that OJT help us to build our
fundamentals in order to face the next stage of our life.
