Característica Especial: Duas correntes, uma para ataque e outra para defesa.
Ela também foi chamada Persea (“esposa de Perseu”) ou Cepheis (“filha de Cefeu”), nomes que
se referem ao papel de Andrômeda no mito greco-romano de Perseu, em que Cassiopeia, a
rainha da Etiópia, gabava-se de que sua filha era mais bonita do que as Nereidas, ninfas
marinhas abençoadas com incrível beleza. Ofendidas com este comentário, as ninfas pediram
a Poseidon para punir Cassiopeia por sua insolência, o que ele fez enviando o monstro
marinho Cetus para atacar a Etiópia. Em pânico, o pai de Andrômeda, Cefeu, foi informado pelo
Oráculo de Amon de que a única maneira de salvar o seu reino seria sacrificando sua filha a
Cetus. Ela foi acorrentada a uma rocha no mar, mas foi salva pelo herói Perseu, que, em uma
versão da história, usou a cabeça da Medusa para transformar o monstro em pedra; em outra
versão, contada pelo poeta Ovídioem sua obra Metamorfoses, Perseu matou o monstro com sua
espada de diamante. Perseu e Andrômeda então se casaram; o mito diz que o casal teve nove
filhos – sete homens e duas mulheres – e fundou Micenas e sua dinastia Persideae. Depois da
morte de Andrômeda, Atena homenageou-a colocando-a no céu como uma constelação.
Diversas constelações vizinhas (Perseus, Cassiopeia, Cetus e Cepheus) também representam
personagens do mito de Perseu.

sometimes identified with Ganymede.

ofertas entre si como sinal de aliança na guerra contra os titãs. Imitando os deuses, os homens
passaram a realizar ofertas em altares para pedir auxílio, em troca de fidelidade para com os
divinos.

In Greek mythology, Auriga is often identified as the mythological Greek hero Erichthonius of
Athens, the chthonic son of Hephaestus who was raised by the goddess Athena. Erichthonius
was generally credited to be the inventor of the quadriga, the four-horse chariot, which he used
in the battle against the usurper Amphictyon, the event that made Erichthonius the king
of Athens.[9][10] His chariot was created in the image of the Sun's chariot, the reason Zeus placed
him in the heavens.[11] The Athenian hero then dedicated himself to Athena and, soon after,
Zeus raised him into the night sky in honor of his ingenuity and heroic deeds.

In Greek Mythology, Canis Major represented the dog Laelaps, a gift from Zeus to Europa; or
sometimes the hound of Procris, Diana's nymph; or the one given by Aurora to Cephalus, so
famed for its speed that Zeus elevated it to the sky.[5] It was also considered to represent one of
Orion's hunting dogs, pursuing Lepus the Hare or helping Orion fight Taurus the Bull; and is
referred to in this way by Aratos, Homer and Hesiod. The ancient Greeks refer only to one dog,
but by Roman times, Canis Minor appears as Orion's second dog.

Segundo a lenda grega associada, numa das suas várias relações extraconjugais com seres
humanos, Zeus seduzira uma mulher chamada Semele, acabando por engravidá-la de Dionísio.
Durante a gravidez, a esposa de Zeus, Hera, aparece à saudosa Semele tomando a aparência
da sua ama de infância e incita-a a pedir ao líder dos deuses que a abrace na sua forma divina,
tal como fazia com Hera. No encontro seguimte ela expressa este pedido e, apesar de saber
quais as consequências desse acto, Zeus não consegue resistir, acedendo à vontade de Semele,
que acaba por morrer, fulminada por ter tido contacto com a essência divina do amante.
Dionísio é então arrancado do ventre de Semele, gerado da coxa de Zeus e entregue à sua tia
para ser criado. Já adulto, desce ao mundo dos mortos para resgatar Semele, sua verdadeira
mãe, deixando ficar no seu lugar uma oferenda de mirto ( planta ) e coloca a Coroa Austral no
céu, como homenagem à mulher que o gerou.

In Greek mythology, Corona Borealis was linked to the legend of Theseus and the
minotaur. It was generally considered to represent a crown given by Dionysus to Ariadne,
the daughter of Minos of Crete, after she had been abandoned by the Athenian
prince Theseus. When she wore the crown at her marriage to Dionysus, he placed it in the
heavens to commemorate their wedding.

Corvus is associated with the myth of Apollo and his lover Coronis the Lapith. Coronis had
been unfaithful to Apollo; when he learned this information from a pure white crow, he
turned its feathers black in a fit of rage.

Crater is identified with a story from Greek mythology in which a crow or raven
serves Apollo, and is sent to fetch water, but it rests lazily on the journey, and after finally
obtaining the water in a cup, takes back a water snake as an excuse. According to the
myth, Apollo saw through the fraud, and angrily cast the crow, cup, and snake, into the sky.

In Greek mythology, Cygnus has been identified with several different legendary
swans. Zeusdisguised himself as a swan to seduce Leda, Spartan king Tyndareus's wife,
who gave birth to the Gemini, Helen of Troy, and Clytemnestra; Orpheus was transformed
into a swan after his murder, and was said to have been placed in the sky next to
his lyre (Lyra); and the King Cygnus was transformed into a swan.

According to the first Greek god Poseidon wanted to marry Amphitrite, a beautiful nereid.
However, wanting to protect her virginity, she fled to the Atlas mountains. Her suitor then
sent out several searchers, among them a certain Delphinus. Delphinus accidentally
stumbled upon her and was able to persuade Amphitrite to accept Poseidon's wooing. Out
of gratitude the god placed the image of a dolphin among the stars.

In Greek mythology, one myth associates Equuleus with the foal Celeris (meaning
"swiftness" or "speed"), who was the offspring or brother of the winged horse Pegasus.
