ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION
1. 2 minutes = Teacher distribute Students have to fill up the first column inside the
handout to students handout 1 (Refer handout 1)
2. 10 minutes = Teacher shows Students analyze the three photos with their friends in
students three different photos using group.
power point.
(a) Analyse photo 1
Teacher and students discuss how lightning is produced.

(b) Analyse photo 2

(c) Analyse photo 3

Teacher and students discuss how to define electric
current

Question and expected answer

1) What do you see in photo 1?

Photo 1
[expected answer : lightning/thunders]

2) Have you ever wondered how lightning is produced?

[Expected answer - During cloud formation, the friction
of movement creates a lot of excess charge. This induced
positive charges on the objects below it.
-If the forces of attraction are strong enough, the
negative charges in the clouds will be attracted towards
the positive charges of the objects, resulting in lightning /
any accepted answer]

3) What is happening to the hair of the student in photo 2?
[expected answer : The hair is attracted to the metal
dome]

Photo 2

4) Can you explain how electrical energy makes it

function?
[ Expected answer: cause electron flow and electric
current]

Photo 3

3. 5 minutes = Teacher shows (a) Teacher will ask student’s opinion about what they
computer simulation of movement of understand from the video simulation.
electric current in its field to student.

4. 15 minutes = Teacher explain about (a) Teacher explain the meaning and details about electric
the concept of electric field and electric field and electric current
current using power point.  Electric fields are fields that permeate the space
around a charged object and another object
experiences an electric force.
 Electric Fields exist in the region of space around
a charged object. When another charged object
enters this electric field, you get electric forces.
 Electric field is a vector quantity

(b) Teacher explain the concept about electric field lines

 The lines do not actually exist, but is a model we
use to analyze fields. They represent
strength/magnitude as well as direction.
 Electric field lines point away from positive

charges, and into negative charges (teacher do
drawing on the board

4. 10 minutes =Students are divided (a) Teacher divides students in a 6 group.

into 6 groups and teacher will distribute (b) In their groups, students will ask to draw the pattern of
handouts to students. electric field in the handout given and answer the
objective questions. (Refer handout 2 and handout 3)
(c) Students will discuss the answer of the questions in
their group.
(d) Leader of the group will present their answers in front
of the class.

5. 15 minutes = Presentation by Each group is given 2 minutes to present their answer.

students. Questions are asked by other groups and teacher. If
presenters fail to answer, teacher provides tips and
guidance.
6. 3 minutes= Students need to Students will have to answer a question given by the
complete handouts 1 and submit to teacher and submit it at the end of class
teacher. ( refer handout 1)

Evaluate & Revise

Student (led by teacher) give a summary discussion on electric field and charge flow topic. Teacher
will distribute an exercise to students.
