Implementation of project based learning

Project based learning (PBL) to be included in the curricula for EE students may involve the
following:

 To start with a freshmen course, systems based project oriented course will be
designed. An example of such course would be “Electrical Engineering Systems”.
 From second semester, the core courses of EED will consists of a compulsory
project component as an evaluation component with larger weightage of marks.
 All courses of EED with lab component will not carryout regular experiment or
exercise based labs through out the course. Rather, half the semester of the lab will
consists of exercise based labs and remaining half includes the project as a part of
the lab component.
 First year and second year core courses of EED will have emphasizes towards
hardware based projects.
 Third year and final year courses will have simulation, validation of the projects
through both hardware and software.
 The final year project will be extended to a two year project from third year.
Evaluation of the project will have a weightage based on the publication of the
project
 All elective courses of EED, will consists of simulation based assignments as
important evaluation component.
