GIRLS IN TECH POST EVENT REPORT

AMPLIFY WOMEN’S PITCH COMPETITION

October 3, 2018
GIRLS IN TECH AMPLIFY WOMEN’S PITCH COMPETITION

Overview
At a time when venture funding in female-only founded startups has remained at only 3% percent of all venture dollars since 2012,
increasing to 7% for male and female-founded teams - we are thrilled to announce that we’re seeing the evidence of an uptick in
entrepreneurship in women around the world!

For the past several years hosting the AMPLIFY Startup Competition, we’ve been seeing a spike in female-led startups - but this year was our
biggest ever!

Compared to 2017, we saw the number of women-led startups who applied jump 33%. We saw the number of countries represented in the
application pool jump by 9% including more startups from Asia and the Middle East. We doubled the prize money (to $20,000 in seed
funding) and gave even more value through additional resources like office space and software services worth $30,000.

We also gave our finalists a global stage through the Audience Choice Award! By streaming each pitch on Facebook Live, we invited our
global community to learn about the amazing work female founders are doing to solve the world’s most important problems. Not only did
each startup gain more exposure around the world, but the community also weighed in in real-time - giving important feedback like
sentiment and the product-market fit.

Thank you for being part of the collective step forward for women entrepreneurs in tech. Now, let’s get to the numbers!

Together we are Making a Difference

The truth is, women aren't funded equally and it is our mission at Girls in Tech to change that.

Thanks to your support, thousands of female entrepreneurs around the world are joining the startup atmosphere and creating the solutions
of tomorrow, one day at a time. The numbers in this report show change, they show an increase in the number of women stepping forward
with confidence to build the futures they want. This is why AMPLIFY exists.

Our community craves AMPLIFY in more countries around the world. They want more male allies championing female founders. They want
more funding and equal access to capital for women entrepreneurs. They want a future where their dreams aren’t arbitrarily written off
based on their gender, or affinity bias from investors. With your continued support, we can do more.

Thank you for being a part of our collective step forward for women entrepreneurs.
