What problems can be stated in this paper?
In a country side where electric power from grid line is not avail, pumping
water from a source to the residents was found to be difficult that due to the
geographically unsupported areas, pumping or transporting water needs a large
amount of energy by any means, either by traditional transport like: donkeys,
camels or modernized transport such as diesel – generated motors. and since
diesel generators used oil fuels, the villagers was faced with a financial related
& environmental air pollution problems. Here is why solar powered water pump
application research was investigated and applied for is that solar energy is a
renewable & found naturally. We can install it anywhere, using solar energy
minimizes financial cost challenges, solar energy is found in a huge amount.
Therefore solar powered water pump was a basic and fundamental off-grid
option to solve and simplify problems in a village which are far from the grid
lines.

What are the general and specific objectives?
General objective of the research is to study and analyze the availability of
solar energy for water pumping in rural areas.

Specific objectives are:

 estimation of the daily volume of water requirement
 designing the photovoltaic pumping components
 calculating head (or the required elevation to discharge water from the
source to the end users) flow rate and pumping efficiency

METHEDOLOGIES
Methodologies and materials used to analyze solar powered water
pump was:
 analyzing water supply depending on the population data and
the amount of water available in the resource
 analyzing cost and comparing different energy from a sources
 the PV panel must be carefully selected to fit with the system
These methodologies are performed with the help numerical and
simulation.
The materials used here are: PV (photovoltaic solar panels), pumping
tube, solar powered pump and water storage tanker

WHAT TYPE OF DESIGN DID THE PAPER USE?

The research is done with a numerical and simulation type of design

Numerical design: to calculate the head (the pumping length from the source to
the end users community), the cost difference between PV pumping system and
diesel – generated pumping system, velocity flow of water, energy required to
pump per flow rate of water required…
Simulation design: in this paper simulation type of design is used to compare
the capital cost of PV & diesel powered pumping system per capital per year.

What results was found from this research?

the general result of analyzing of water powered pump system
depends on the comparison of both diesel generated pump system and
solar powered pump system based on their economic status that both
were tested for about 25 years to know and take advantage of one of
them.
So at the final stage of testing, solar powered pumping system was
found economically advantageous & was supported to run for the
pumping system.
