I. Objectives
a. identify the kinds of verbs according to form
b. familiarize the principal parts of irregular verbs
c. use irregular verbs in the sentence

Topic: Irregular Verbs
Reference: Voyages in English, pg. 265-269
Materials: Visual Aids

III. Procedure
A. Activity
The teacher will post sample sentences to the board, then the students will identify the verbs used
in the sentence.
1. He sings in the choir.
2. I prayed yesterday
3. We study our lessons.

B. Analysis
The teacher will ask questions to the students:
1. What have you noticed about the verbs used in the sentences?
2. What is the past form of the verb in the sentences?

C. Abstraction
Discuss the following:
A. Forms
1. Regular verb- is a verb that forms its past tense and its past participle by adding d or ed to the
present tense.
2. Irregular verb- is a verb that does not form its past tense and its past particple by adding d or
ed to the present tense.
B. Principal Parts of Irregular Verb
1. Present tense- signifies action or being in the present
2. Past- signifies action or being in the past.
3. Past Participle- completed action or a time or state gone by

D. Application
The teacher will call a student to construct a sentence using irregular verbs and another student
will encircle the principal part used.
