The topic of my capstone is about how dental care is important especially for kids because it can help prevent
future problems like gum disease and tooth decay.

1. What is your prior knowledge about this topic?
I know that oral health care is important because the problems that can occur in your mouth can lead to
other chronic illnesses like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

2. What problem(s) could you attempt to solve/address in connection with this topic?
I can try to the lack of dental care that parents give to kids because of financial problems by helping
volunteer in organizations.

3. How can you attempt to solve one of these problems at Poly or in the local community (not globally)?
What type of product do you anticipate completing (see ideas for final product).
I can attempt to solve this problem at poly by sharing the news about the free dental care for other
students younger siblings so they can help them start caring for their teeth by coming by the dental
office that I will be volunteering at.

4. Explain how you might spend a minimum of 10 hours outside of the school day in the community
working toward this solution.
I will volunteer by watching on the side and help clean teeth as well take care of visitors at the dentist.

5. Explain how you might provide evidence of your work throughout the experience.
I’ll provide evidence by recording videos and taking photos as well as having a sheet with the hours
logged onto it.

6. Explain any obstacles you might encounter in your attempt to address this problem.
I might have trouble meeting the hour minimum doing this activity or being able to take a huge part at
the dentist.
