Specifications/evidence must be provided for the following areas:


 Statement of whether the project has already been designed or developed
 Project sustainability
 Distinctiveness of project (is the project Guyanese or internationally distinctive and
relevant)
 Evidence of the individual or company’s competency to perform task
 A well thought-out budget and evidence of projected cost (Quotations and or invitations
letters must be submitted where relevant). Budget should detail: Costs and Expenses,
Income Streams and Profits
 Marketing and distribution concept and marketing plan
 Sustainability concept and sustainability plan
 Investment of applicant (resources or sweat equity); applicant must provide statement of
equity that is planned for investment in the project
 Business Registration Certificate and VAT number
 Profile of collaborators/partners/potential employees
 Evidence of past performance

Terms of Reference

Guyana Fund for Cultural and Creative Industries (GFCCI)

Background:

The Department of Culture has as part of its mandate, a responsibility to foster and promote the
Creative Industries and to provide platforms for the growth and development of these industries
in the best interest of Guyana and all Guyanese.

Definition

Cultural and Creative Industries:

“The Cultural and Creative Industries refer to those parts of the modern economy where culture
is produced and distributed through industrial means, applying the creativity of individuals and
groups to the generation of original cultural product, which may have commercial value either
through direct sale to consumers or as intellectual property. The cultural and creative industries
typically bring together the arts, media and design sectors, with a focus upon convergent digital

Focus of the Fund

Given the definition and size of this particular grant, emphasis will be placed on original cultural
and creative projects which have already been developed and whose originators can present a
credible and well thought out plan for commercialization and sustainability of the project

Projects which include collaborations and which are demonstrated to benefit/include large
numbers of artists, especially women, youth and out of city participants from across Guyana will
be ideal.

Objectives of the Fund

 To promote the sustainable development of the Cultural and Creative Industries of


Guyana
 To improve the livelihoods of persons engaged in the Cultural and Creative Industries
sector
 To promote the innovation of new cultural products
 To facilitate commercialization of local Cultural and Creative Industries
 To support creative industry development of a canon of local content that is reflective of
Guyana’s diversity and creativity
 To propagate the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Guyana

Areas for funding in this first instance are focused as follows:

 Productions and Publications across all creative industries


 Marketing, Distribution and Branding of creative products
 Development of new cultural products such as festivals
 Procurement of specialized equipment in support of a particular type of creative
production
 Creation of intellectual goods, patents and copyrights
 Research and designs of innovate new Guyanese products in the creative industries-
(gaming, animation, fashion and condiments/recipes using local content/contexts)

Process

 Only one project per individual or group will be eligible per call
 Along with project submission, individuals may be asked to provide two character
references
 Companies and organizations are required to present their certificates of
registration/incorporation
 In cases where a grant has already been awarded to a recipient future awards will only be
made upon the successful completion of the project and the fulfillment of all obligations
under the grant
 All recipients will be required to sign an award contract which will cover such items as
disbursement and output schedules; marketing and branding; sustainability and
termination or completion requirements
 The Board may decline to make any awards during a call if the quality of the entries prove
to be low

Submission Process

 5 copies of the project proposal using form template supplied by the Department of Social
Cohesion, Culture, Youth and Sport
 Entries can be submitted either electronically to socialcohesion.pr@gmail.com or
prcoordinator@gmail.com or by hand to the Department of Social Cohesion, Culture,
Youth and Sport Public Relations Department
