To Whom It May Concern:

Currently, I am in the process of completing my third and final professional semester from the University
of Lethbridge at St. Patrick’s School. I will be graduating with a B.A in General Humanities with a focus
on English, Philosophy and History, and a B.Ed. in English Language Arts.

My extensive coaching background has taught me hard work and dedication, which has influenced my
teaching philosophy. At the age of ten years old, I began coaching CanSkate as a Program Assistant,
which sparked my passion for teaching. When my competitive figure skating career ended at age
seventeen, I became Skate Canada Professionally Certified as a Level I and Level II Figure Skating Coach.
This status allowed me to coach a range of abilities - from those first learning to skate, to older
competitive skaters. I coached at a variety of clubs in the Medicine Hat area, such as Redcliff Skating
Club, Medicine Hat Skating Club and Irvine Skating Club. My love for coaching, motivated me to become
a Skate Canada Professional Power Skating Coach in 2013, where I worked for Platinum Star Power
Skating with Gay Dubeau. My coaching experiences inspired me to become a teacher, and has been an
influential part of my life.

One of the strengths I have developed over my professional teaching semesters is planning lessons and
assessment strategies that engage students, and reach different learners. This has allowed me to be
independent and highly motivated to integrate strategies that engage students, while also creating an
inclusive learning environment. Throughout my teaching experiences, I have developed and refined my
classroom management skills. I have found value in building meaningful, strong relationships with my
students by valuing their personal interests. Through strong relationships with my students’ I am able to
establish clear and concise expectations, and encourage student success through positive
reinforcement. From my sports background, I place a high value on collaboration. I believe collaborating
with students, parents, and colleagues and sharing ideas can lead to better student learning. The
integration of technology in the classroom is important to me and I have experience using various types
of technology, such as Chromebooks, iPads, and Smartboards. Through my experience, I have found
some of the most successful activities for engagement are technology based using Kahoot, Google
Slides, Google Docs and Google Classroom. Additionally, I have a Catholic faith background.
