Meeting 1

10/16/18

My mentor and I discussed the overview of the entire project and I explained the
requirements. I inquired about proper or recommended equipment to use at future photoshoots.
Elsa recommended to invest in a full frame sensor camera, two prime lenses, flashes, and two
backups for everything. Elsa also helped me come up with other ways I could gather evidence,
which is by using a model release form.
We then went on to discuss what I would be doing at the mini photoshoot session that I
would be tagging along to later in the evening. The photo session included a family of four, two
of which were young children. While at the photoshoot, I was able to observe some of the
techniques/ scenarios she utilizes, help with equipment, ask questions along the way, and at the
end give feedback.

Meeting 2
2/5/19

At this point in the project, I am starting to put my focus on editing. Most of our
discussion revolved around editing. She offered alternative ways to buy prints and more efficient
ways to send over pictures to a client, if I had multiple photos for my final product. We discussed
how many hours to expect for the editing process of individual sessions and she also
recommended which soft wares to use for certain types of edits. She recommended I use
Lightroom to fix minor issues such as lighting, exposure and tone, and use Photoshop for bigger
edits. We also went over how many final photos I should produce for an individual shoot, and
how to get them to clients. I had mentioned how I intended to produce just one final image for
this project, which we agreed was alright for the project, but she recommended that for future
professional/business circumstances to choose multiple so that the client has more variety and
options. Elsa also showed me other resources that I can use to gather prompts and other tips
on photography.

Meeting 3
3/15/19

We did an overview of my website and Elsa gave me some pointers on what else I
should include, like a location and availability, and accessibility. We talked about how to have a
more efficient layout, she said to include things that keep a viewer looking at your website, like
interactive buttons and images. Some of the tips that she gave me were to add an about me list
or paragraph which states random, fun facts, distinctive or relatable information that could
potentially draw in clients. It was also recommended that I should put up my best photo, or a
photo that would target or appeal to the people/clients I want to attract. She also suggested a
few other minor edits hat I should make to improve the quality of the website. We also planned
out a few events that I could come to, one of which I will be shadowing her and others I will be
able to learn how to start up my website and business skill set for running your own
photography business. At the end I had her sign all the necessary papers.
