At Herriman High, there are many different forms of corporate presence including
banners on the football stadium, Samsung Chromebooks in many classrooms, and Little Ceasar's
garlic breadsticks that are sold in the school store. Every day I walk past the vending machines
outside of the lunchroom which all of the drinks are Coca Cola products. I am exposed to
corporate sponsors in the form of banners and a scoreboard while I attend soccer games in the
football stadium. As a student at Herriman, the corporate presence that is created by clothing is
also incredibly influential. Each day as I file through the hallways I see countless Nike shirts,
I would say that Nike, Adidas, Coca Cola, University of Utah Health Care, and
Intermountain Health Care are the most visible corporate presences on campus at Herriman high.
Nike has established its presence through students use of their products on a daily basis and their
sponsorship of Herriman athletics so each sport’s spirit packs and uniforms are Nike. Adidas
gained a presence through students wearing their products throughout the week. Coca Cola
created their presence through the vending machines which are placed outside of the lunchroom
which thousands of students pass each day. The University of Utah Health Care presence has
been created through banners seen by all those who enter the football stadium and the athletic

trainers that help any athlete that gets injured and attend sports games wearing branded shirts and
jackets.
On a day-to-day basis, the most influential corporate presence for me is Nike and Adidas.
These have the other corporations beat because I see them on a much bigger scale due to the
number of students that wear their clothing and the number of students at Herriman that are
involved in sports. This presence creates a trend to wear these brands which means that more and
Herriman athletics switched from Adidas to Nike within the last few years. Would the
school only worry about the amount of money offered by each company or would they look at
the actual products and their quality? With the influence of high school football within the
United States, would the school look out for the best interest of that sport over the less popular
sports in our area such as lacrosse? I would just want to know what the deciders look at when
comparing two sponsorship opportunities, especially with athletics and their brand.
