Airfield Ground Lighting Maintenance (AGL2)
This intermediate level training course is targeted towards AGL personnel that are
involved in planning & delivering AGL maintenance schedules, maintaining AGL
luminaires & Constant Current Regulators.

Course Outline
This Training Course is designed to provide AGL engineering and management personnel with both practical
and classroom sessions to help improve airfield AGL programming maintenance efficiency and teach the
practical setting, maintenance and sighting of airfield luminaires. The course includes the scheduled
maintenance tasks required for approach, threshold, runway, taxiway inset and elevated luminaires, PAPI
Units and Constant Current Regulars (CCR’s). This training programme helps delegates to produce and record
airfield maintenance schedules and how to monitor these activities correctly.

Purpose of the AGL Maintenance Training Course


 To teach the relevant statutory maintenance requirements (CAA, ICAO, MADS, FAA, EASA) to which
Airfield Ground Lighting is to be maintained on airfields.
 To teach delegates how to establish and prepare correct and efficient AGL maintenance programmes.
 To carry out practical maintenance tasks on inset and elevated luminaires:
 Approach Lighting
 Threshold Lighting
 Runway Lighting
 Taxiway Lighting
 To carry out maintenance tasks, basic fault finding and the set up Constant Current Regulators
(CCR’s).
 To sight and calibrate PAPI units.
 To teach the correct procedures for making Primary & Secondary AGL Cable Jointing.
 General Health & Safety Regulations when working on Airfield Electrical Circuits.

This course can be offered to airports and companies on an individual basis and designed to meet your specific
AGL training requirements. To achieve this we develop and create modules to concentrate more time and
detail on specific maintenance needs that you may require. To ensure we meet your requirements please

We offer 3 different training package solutions.

1. Residential training courses at our HQ in Harrogate or Wickford offices.


2. Onsite training delivered directly at your premises / offices / airfield.
3. We have access over 3000 fully equipped satellite training offices available worldwide.

Course Duration
 4 days – Residential at Airfield Training Company HQ in Harrogate.
 4 days – Onsite Training at Your Premises (worldwide).

Please Note: This course has night time sessions set for the delegates to complete.

Certification
Having successfully passed practical and classroom tests during the 3 days of the Training Programme each
delegate will receive an Airfield Training Company ‘Airfield Ground Lighting Maintenance Course (AGL2)
Certification’ which is endorsed by the CAA. The overall performance and contributions of each delegate will
monitored by the Training Manager or Training Team over the 3 days and contribute to a final individual
certification score.
