Student Response and Assessment Tools

Lesson Idea Name: Muscle Anatomy Assessment

Content Area: Anatomy
Grade Level(s): 9-12

Content Standard Addressed:

Standard 1: Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease
prevention to enhance health.

Technology Standard Addressed:

1c: Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice
and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.

Selected Technology Tool:

☐Quizlet ☐Plickers ☐Kahoot! ☐Socrative X Quizizz ☐Formative
☐Flipgrid ☐Microsoft Forms ☐Other:
URL(s) to support the lesson (if applicable):
https://quizizz.com/admin/quiz/5c884db61f896b001b90c568

Technology that student will use to respond to questions/prompts:

X Desktop ☐Hand-held student response system (like iRespond) ☐Phone
X Tablet (such as iPad) X
 Laptop ☐Other: (such as Plicker)

Type of session:
☐ Teacher-Paced X Student-Paced

Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):

☐ Remembering ☐ Understanding ☐ Applying X Analyzing X Evaluating
☐ Creating
Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
To give students more choice and freedom I would allow them to take the quiz on their
own time. This way they can feel more comfortable taking the quiz and not feel
pressured by the classroom or peers. They will be more successful if its less stressful for
them.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and
how you will introduce the SRT activity.
Prior to the SRT students will be given a lesson on the main muscles of the human body.
They will need to memorize these mian muscles. I will then inform them that they will be
assessed using Quizizz and that they are free to take the quiz on their own time. They
have overnight to complete it.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐Assess prior knowledge ☐Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐To
illuminate common misconceptions X Formative assessment of content knowledge (for
purpose of differentiation and mastery for ALL students) ☐Summative assessment of
content knowledge ☐ Test preparation ☐Survey/Poll ☐
Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

The students will be instructed to take the quiz over the next 24 hours. The teacher will
wait and observe student responses as they come in.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

X Multiple choice X Multiple select ☐True/False ☐Yes/No X Short
open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐Longer open-ended response ☐Other:

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them
below (8-10 questions required):
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
X Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of
the questions and display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
X Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Yes because some muscles can be tricky to remember and need to be covered over
and over again.

Describe what will happen AFTER t he SRT activity?

The scores will be used as a quiz score in the gradebook and will be feedback as to what
to study or cover again.

How will the data be used?

The data will show how well each student memorized the muscles of the body and which
ones they need to keep working on. They can then use the flashcard application to keep
studying the ones they missed.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

I am using Quizizz for the first time and I hope to learn how to implement this technology
into a lesson more fluidly. I hope it will allow students to get a better understanding of the
content and to have a tool that they can study with.

Reflective Practice:
I think it would allow students to learn even better by giving them a tool in which they can
study content that they did not test well on. They can use the flash card tool on quizizz to
study the muscles they need more time with. As the unit progresses to learning bones
and other anatomy aspects I would give more quizizz and that way they have a
repertoire of study material to further their learning. Then at the end of the unit I would
give a comprehensive quiz with all the material. I could also use interactive technology
like zeetings where I would embed the quiz directly into the lesson for the students to
take together
