DCGear serves as control and protection
equipment in DC traction power distribution
networks. The cubicles contain proven technology
components and are designed and type-tested
in accordance with the latest standards.

Panel design

Panel design Rear busbar compartment

The switchgear is made of a free standing
structure. Its external casing is made of bolted
panels and doors on the front side. Panels and
diaphragms divide the inner part of the cubicle
in different compartments.
HSCB compartment
This compartment houses the DC high speed
circuit breaker mounted on a removable
four-wheeled trolley, which can easily be withdrawn
from the cubicle. The trolley is also equipped
with the line test device. The withdrawable DC
high-speed circuit breaker trolley has the following
positions:
• Normal operating position: Main and auxiliary
circuits are connected
• Test position: Main circuits are disconnected
while auxiliary circuits are connected
• Disconnected position: Main and auxiliary
circuits are disconnected
The busbar compartment is at the rear of the
cubicle and contains the main busbar, cable
connections, voltage and current measuring.
Furthermore, it can also hold bypass busbar and
additional equipment, such as surge arresters and
disconnector switches where applicable.
Low voltage compartment
The low voltage compartment contains the
combined protection and control relay with
display, the low voltage components and all the
other equipment necessary to realize the control
and signaling circuit.

Incoming panel ● Standard requirement for substations with two or more rectifiers
Incoming panel ● Equipped with HSCB it can detect and switch-off of reverse
currents in case of rectifier faults
