THE ADVENT IN ZAGREB 2018

The time of Advent that has just finished has been a great success. It has
continued a series of Zagreb's best Advent performances in Europe
(https://www.jutarnji.hr/). That has been sparkling with cosmopolitan energy
enabling all our senses and spreading happiness and Christmas spirit.
We may expect that over 50.000 (fifty thousand) tourists have visited the
town, they made almost 100.000 (one hundred thousand) overnight stays and all
visitors have spent more than 500 (five hundred) milion kunas.

It is amazing how in last five years Advent iz Zagreb has been
transformed from ugly tent on the main square as well as from exhibition stands
into romantic european Christmas Disneyland with rich entertainement and
gastro programme.
Tourists visit the Advent in large numbers - they come from Slovakia,
Bosnia and Hercegovina, United States, even from Japan and South Korea
(https://www.index.hr/vijesti/). They are delighted with domestic traditional
meals, such as sarme, fritule and štrukli.
We can conclude that the Zagreb Advent Festival is the best thing that
happend in Zagreb in the last decade!
But is it the main purpose of the Advent? What is actually the true mean
of the Advent? I believe that the Advent is a period in which every one of us
should prepare inner self for the birth of our Savior. It is true beauty and magic
that cover the town at the time of Advent but primarly it has to be the time of
spriritual preparation for the birthday of Jesus Christ. It could be followed by
spicy sausages and other various offers just on the second place.
