Dear Hon. Mayor;

Greetings!

I am Noel D. Banay Jr., an entrepreneur who currently has several interests in sand
& gravel, van rental and small contracting contracts for construction. Though I am a
licensed nurse, I have found my niche in being a businessman and continuously
strike for better opportunities.

With this always at the back of my head, I would like to submit a proposal for
Kapehan ni Juan, a themed café but with products priced to make them affordable
even to our tricycle drivers. This idea is a product of a collaborative effort with my
cousin whom I visited at the Balay ni Tan Juan Museum and saw that there was an
opportunity to attract more traffic, encourage coffee enthusiasts and students to
stay and learn more about our culture and be a tourist attraction all at the same
time. After researching and testing out other themed cafes in Bacolod, we have
come up with a proposal for Kapehan ni Juan which we would want to put within
the Balay ni Tan Juan grounds right beside the guardhouse all the way towards the
northern perimeter wall of the lot area. It will include a reading nook where
students can congregate, enjoy their coffee, connect to Wi-Fi and read from a
collection of books which we will also provide along with reading materials from the
Balay ni Tan Juan; based on discussions with Mr. Clemente del Castillo and the
Tourism Office, the area would be cordoned off to technically separate it from the
museum. Hence, while there is no entrance fee for Kapehan ni Juan, for those who
wish to visit the museum, the standard fees apply. An air-conditioned, VIP lounge
will eventually be added for guests and customers if they wish for a more intimate
atmosphere to enjoy our coffee and refreshments. All these will be designed to
celebrate the life of Tan Juan.

WHAT CAN WE GIVE BACK TO THE CITY

Kapehan ni Juan is not only a business enterprise for me but also a way to give back
to my roots. With the agreement to this proposal, and the city’s approval to the use
of the location, I am prepared to help in making Balay ni Tan Juan in its continuous
improvement.
 Since this is a themed café, the western wall of the perimeter will be
improved and designed to look like a sugarcane field with a cannon as a focal
design. This will serve as the backdrop for the kapehan.
  The business will also be repairing the outdoor restrooms for the use of
guests of the museum and the kapehan as well.
 Landscaping of the garden, parts of which we will use for non-permanent
tables for customers who wish to stay in the garden.
 Aggressive social media marketing for the kapehan, which includes the
museum itself.
 Eventual assistance for the construction of the Balay ni Tan Juan Office in the
area under the balcony to preserve the museum from foot traffic and to make
use of the existing office area for museum purposes.
 Opportunities for students of Bago City to do OJT work for those taking up
Senior High School Tracts or College Courses that are related to the field.

WHAT CAN THE CITY HELP US WITH

To make all these a reality, we would need assistance from the city through the
following ways:
 Approval for the Kapehan ni Juan and its concept
 Memorandum of Agreement from the city of at least 5 (five) years for the
business to flourish and for return of initial investment and income
 Use of the space within BTJ area (terms and conditions for discussion)
 Assistance in city permits
 Inclusion of Kapehan ni Juan in Tourism Marketing Initiatives

Being a great, great, great grandson of Lolo Juan excites me to work with the city in
sharing his life and our city’s culture with others and to make this experience as
exciting for them as possible.

Attached is a copy of our concept, logo and proposal for Kapehan ni Juan. I truly
hope you can give me the chance to, in my own way, promote our beloved city and
history. The architectural plan and perspective will be made ready once agreement
for this venture has been, even verbally confirmed.
