Guidelines
This tool can help you understand exactly where you stand in your courses.

Why use this calculator?

1) To keep track of your assignment grades and progress in your courses.
2) To make adjustments in the amount of time you spend on your courses (for example, if you are
exceeding your course goal in one course, and below your goal in another, consider adjusting
the amount of time you spend on each course).
3) To calculate the grade you will need on your final exam to reach your course goal.

For each of your courses:

1) Fill in the course name (e.g. BIOL 102).
2) Use your course outline to fill each of the items that you will receive a mark for in the semester. Be sure
to delete the example the example row, or else it will be counted towards your semester mark.
3) As you get your marks back, populate the spreadsheet by adding what the assignment is worth, and what
your score was on it. Always enter your marks as percentages.
5) The Mark Calculator will tell you:
(a) your current mark in the course - as a percentage (in blue), and also how much of your final mark you have
already achieved
(b) what mark you need to achieve on the final exam in order to get a 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, or 100%

Save a copy of this spreadsheet to your computer, and keep it up to date as you get your marks back throughout
the semester. Come finals, you'll know exactly where you stand in each of your courses and can design your
study schedule accordingly.
