ANNOTATION
These technical requirements apply to the waterproofing materials and works related to
the secondary protection of concrete constructions of underground and underwater parts of
buildings and structures against aggressive impact of soil and groundwater and concrete
durability increase.
This documentation applies to Kudankulam NPP units No. 3, 4.
The document has been modified as revision 1.
According to the results of interaction with the head material science organization , the
requirements for waterproofing materials are clarified.

1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE


1.1 Technical requirements are an integral part of the construction and detailed design
documentation for the Kudankulam NPP and apply to the underground and underwater
waterproofing of reinforced concrete structures of buildings and constructions of power units No
3, 4.
This document establishes general technical requirements for:
- materials for the insulation by way of applying fusion bonded bitumen-polymer
waterproofing;
waterproof bands;
waterstops;
mastic bitumen-polymer waterproofing;
bitumen-polymer mastics, water proof, non-solidifying for filling expansion joints ;
water proof swellable bars;
materials for filling expansion joints;
penetrating mastic cement-polymer waterproofing ;
quality control and acceptance of materials;
materials packaging, transportation and storage;
water proof materials use and waterproofing works performance;
quality control and acceptance of works;
information submitted.
This document provides examples of design solutions for the main units of the
underground structure waterproofing. Materials for waterproofing are selected on the basis of
feasibility and vendors' proposals for the comprehensive approach to units of waterproofing.

WATERPROOFING
12.1 General provisions
12.1.1These technical requirements apply to waterproofing fusion bonded bitumen-
polymer reinforced roll material for waterproofing of rafts of buildings and structures.
12.2 Technical requirements
12.2.1 Fusion-bonded waterproofing material of Technoelastmost B type
(TechnoNICOL Company), EPOX BP-AS type (SPA "SPETSKOMPOSIT") etc.
Waterproof bitumen-polymeric fusion bonded materials shall have physical-mechanical
characteristics, shown in table 2.2.1.1.

The waterproofing service lifetime (waterproofing properties and deformability) is at least
60 years. Deformation properties and water resistance (pressure reduction during the test) are
allowed to reduce by 25 %. The reduction of these properties by a larger value shall be agreed
with the designers.
Waterproofing of buildings and structures shall have at least 0.2 MPa shear resistance in
the plane of the material for double-layer waterproofing.
Waterproofing of buildings shall maintain the above properties at pressure up to 1.65 MPa
under foundation slabs.
Bands of the material shall be free of mechanical damage, foreign inclusions.
The material shall retain its physical and mechanical properties in terms of deformability
and water resistance under aggressive effects of dilute solutions of acids, alkalis and salts (pH
from 3 to 10) according to GOST 12020-72.
The supplier shall guarantee the material conformity with the present requirements,
subject to the user's observance of supplier's transportation, storage and usage instructions.
2.3. Quality control and materials acceptance
2.3.1 Manufacture, testing, preservation, packaging, labeling, inspection and
transportation of materials shall be in accordance with a quality assurance program, developed
by the manufacturer or supplier, taking into account customer's requirements.
The quality of materials shall meet requirements of the technical specifications or usage
instructions and these technical requirements.
Materials shall be accepted in batches. Each batch shall be equally treated during
manufacture and be made of the same components.
Test methods shall comply with requirements of standards specified in i. 2.2 and the
manufacturer's or supplier's specifications regarding basic requirements for:
- testing facilities;
- measuring tools;

instruments;
test preparation and performance procedure;
result interpretation procedure.
Testing facilities, measuring tools and instruments shall be assigned by the laboratory
conducting the tests, taking into account the basic requirements specified in i. 2.2.
During manufacture and acceptance of materials the following controls shall be
exercised:
incoming inspection;
in-process inspection;
acceptance inspection in the following scope and sequence:
1) inspection and testing;
2) completeness check;
3) checking marking, preservation and packaging.
At the manufacturing plant the materials shall undergo preliminary and acceptance tests.
Information certifying materials acceptance shall be registered in the data sheet.
The manufacturer shall take into account that the materials will pass the incoming
inspection and all detected defects shall be eliminated by the manufacturer himself.
2.4 Requirements for packaging, transportation and storage
2.4.1 The supplier shall provide complete delivery of waterproof materials, including
technical documentation .
Materials shall comply with requirements for the mass and dimension to be transported
by railway, road and water.
Packaging, transportation and storage shall comply with the manufacturer's
specifications and environmental climatic conditions.
Warehousing and storage is provided by the customer in accordance with the
manufacturer's specifications.
2.5 Instructions for use
2.5.1 Waterproofing is installed in accordance with the working drawings with account
of the supplier's or manufacturer's guidelines in the material use.
Waterproofing is performed on the horizontal surfaces of concrete beds on the screed of
cement-sand mortar under the foundation slabs of buildings and the bottoms of underground
structures (tunnels, canals, reinforced concrete tanks, etc.). Laying of waterproofing is performed
without fusion bonding on the concrete surface. Waterproofing fusion bonding is performed when
laying the second layer on the lower layer and in the joints of the lower and second layers, as well
as when laying waterproofing on vertical concrete surfaces.
Prior to waterproofing it is necessary to prepare concrete surfaces in accordance with
the specifications and supplier's or manufacturer's usage instructions.
Concrete surfaces prepared for laying waterproofing shall be accepted by the customer's
quality control services.
Waterproofing and fusion bonding shall be performed with the maximum degree of
mechanization, with the quality control of fusion bonding of waterproofing layers and joints of
waterproofing sheets.
Upon works completion, it is necessary to check the state of the waterproof coating. No
bubbles or mechanical damages are allowed on the waterproof coating.
Usage instructions shall specify requirements for vertical concrete surface dampness.
2.6. Quality control and acceptance of waterproofing
2.6.1 Customer's quality control services carry out the following at the construction site:

incoming inspection of supplied materials;


materials storage monitoring;
quality control of waterproofing works;
works safety monitoring;
environmental safety monitoring;
acceptance of intermediate works on waterproof coating application;
acceptance of completed waterproofing works.
When performing waterproofing works, quality control services caiTy out:
quality control of surfaces of concrete, metal and other materials for filling expansion
joints;
operational monitoring of waterproof coating application.
Quality control and acceptance of completed waterproofing works shall be carried out
in accordance with the requirements of te<.:hni<.:al spe<.:ifi<.:ations or supplier's instructions on the
materials application.
Supplier's or manufacturer's technical specifications and material usage instructions
shall contain safety requirements , including fire safety and environmental protection
requirements .
Environmental impact shall not exceed the values established by the applicable
regulatory documents of the Customer.

3 WATERSTOPS
3.1 General provisions
3.1.1 These technical requirements apply to the waterstops designed for waterproofing
of expansion joints of underground and underwater reinforced concrete constructions of buildings
and structures.
3.2 Technical requirements
3.2.1 It is recommended to apply waterstops of Aquastop type ("Aquabarrier"-Ltd) that
have longevity in climatic and hydrogeological conditions of the construction site. AQUASTOP
waterstops of types DV, DO, HV, HO and DOM are presented in table 10.1
Waterstops shall have physical and mechanical characteristics shown in table 3.2.1.1.

Material of waterstops is PVC-P (plasticized compositions based on polyvinyl chloride)
and TPO (thermoplastic polyolefins) .
Service life is at least 60 years as for deformation and waterproofing properties .
Deformation and waterproofing properties (test pressure reduction) are allowed to reduce by
25 %. Reduction of properties by a larger value shall be agreed with the designer.
Heat resistance at temperatures +60 °C within 5 hours with no swellings on the surface of
the sample according to EN 1296-2000 (GOST EN 1296-2012) shall be ensured.
The materi al shall retain its waterproofing and deformation-resistant properties under
attacks of diluted acids solutions, alkalies and salts (pH from 3 to 10) as per GOST 12020-72.
The supplier shall guarantee the material conformity with the present requirements,
subject to the user's observance of supplier's transportation , storage and usage instructions.
3.3 Quality control and materials acceptance
3.3.1 Manufacture, testing, preservation, packaging , labeling, acceptance and
transportation of materials shall be in accordance with a quality assurance program, developed
by the Manufacturer or the Supplier, taking into account the Customer 's requirements.

The quality of materials shall meet requirements of technical specifications or


application instructions and these technical requirements.
Materials shall be accepted in batches. Each batch shall be manufactured according to
the same process regulations and shall be made of the same components.
Test methods shall meet the requirements of the standards, specified in Item 3.2, and the
Manufacturer's or the Supplier's specifications establishing basic requirements for:
testing facilities;
measuring tools;
instruments;
test preparation and performance procedure;
result interpretation procedure.
Testing facilities, measuring tools and instruments shall be assigned by the laboratory
conducting the tests, taking into account the requirements of the standards specified in Item 2.
During manufacture and acceptance of materials, the following inspection methods shall
be used:
incoming inspection;
in-process inspection;
acceptance inspection in the following scope and sequence:
1) inspection and tests;
2) completeness verification;
3) marking, preservation and packaging inspection.
At the manufacturing plant, materials shall undergo preliminary and acceptance tests.
Information, certifying the acceptance of the materials, shall be recorded in the data
sheet.
The Manufacturer shall take into account that materials will be subjected to incoming
inspection and all defects revealed shall be eliminated by the Manufacturer.
3.4 Requirements for packaging, transportation and storage
3.4.1 The Supplier shall provide a complete delivery of materials, including technical
documentation thereon.
Material packaging, transportation and storage requirements shall meet the
Manufacturer's specifications and take into account the impact of ambient climatic factors.
The Customer shall stockpile and store materials in accordance with the Manufacturer's
specifications.
3.5 Instructions for use
3.5.1 Waterstops shall be installed in expansion joints in accordance with working
drawings, with due consideration of the Supplier's or Manufacturer's instructions on the use of
the material.
Waterstops shall be made with a joint quality control.
3.6 Quality control and acceptance of waterproofing
3.6.1 At the construction site, the Customer's quality control services shall proceed with:
incoming inspection of supplied materials;
monitoring of material storage conditions;
quality control of waterproofing operations;
control over safe work execution;
environmental safety monitoring;
acceptance of completed waterproofing operations.

While performing waterproofing operations, quality control services shall provide:


- In-process control of waterstop installation operations .
Quality control and acceptance of completed waterproofing operations shall be carried
out in accordance with the technical specifications or Supplier's instructions on the use of
materials.
The Supplier's or the Manufacturer's technical specifications and material use
instructions shall include safety requirements , in particular , fire safety and environmental
protection requirements .
Environmental impact shall not exceed the values specified in applicable regulatory
documents of the Customer.

4 WATERPROOFING BANDS
4.1 General
4.1.1 These technical requirements shall be applicable to waterproofing bands intended
for sealing expansion joints in underground tunnels and at tunnel junctions to buildings and
structures. Band connections shall be made by hot air welding.
4.2 Technical requirements
4.2.1 Waterproofing band of Gidrozo' s Manodil Pro type on a basis of a two-component
epoxy adhesive Manopox 331, Masterflex 3000 (BASF Company), of type EPOX GL-AS (SPA
"Spetskompozit"), etc.
Relative elongation at rapture as per GOST 4.224-83 is at least 350 % in longitudinal
direction and 600 % in lateral direction.
Minimum adhesion of adhesives compounds to concretes 1s 1.5 MPa per
GOST 28574-90.
Minimum adhesion of adhesives compounds to metal is 1.5 MPa as per
GOST 28574-90.
Minimum adhesion of epoxy adhesives to cement-polymer waterproofing parget is
1.5 MPa as per GOST 28574-90.
Heat resistance at a temperature of +60 °C for 5 hours: no swelling should be found on
the surface as per EN 1296-2000 (GOST EN 1296-2012).
Minimum service life of the material and adhesive compounds regarding adhesive,
deformation and waterproofing properties is 60 years . Adhesive, deformation and waterproofing
properties are allowed to reduce by 25 % (pressure drop during tests). More deep deterioration of
the properties shall be agreed with the design organization.
Water resistance at a pressure of 0.2 MPa within 24 hours: no signs of water penetration
to the sample surface should be revealed as per EN 1928-2000 (GOST EN 1928-2011).
The material shall retain its adhesive, defonnation and waterproofing properties under
attacks of diluted acid solutions, alkalis and salts (pH from 3 to 10) as per GOST 12020-72.
The Supplier shall guarantee the material conformity with the present requirements,
subject to the user's observance of the Supplier's transportation, storage and usage instructions.
4.3 Quality control and material acceptance
4.3.1 Materials shall be manufactured , tested, preserved, packaged , labelled , inspected
and transported in accordance with a quality assurance program, developed by the Manufacturer
or the Supplier, taking into account the Customer's requirements.
Quality of materials shall meet requirements of technical specifications or instructions
on the use, and these technical requirements.
Materials shall be accepted in batches. Each batch shall be manufactured according to
the same process regulations and shall be made of the same components.
Test methods shall meet the requirements of the standards, specified in Item 4.2, and the
Manufacturer's or the Supplier's specifications establishing basic requirements for:
testing facilities;
measuring tools;
instruments;
test preparation and perfonnance procedure;
- result interpretation procedure.
Testing facilities, measuring tools and instruments shall be assigned by the laboratory
conducting the tests taking into account the requirements of the standards specified in Item 4.2.

The Manufacturer shall take into account that waterproofing materials are subject to
incoming inspection and all defects revealed shall he eliminated by the Manufacturer.
4.4 Requirements for packaging, transportation and storage
4.4.1 The Supplier shall provide a complete delivery of waterproofing materials,
including technical documentation thereon.
Material packaging, transportation and storage requirements shall meet the
Manufacturer's specifications and take into account the impact of ambient climatic factors.
The Customer shall stockpile and store materials in accordance with the Manufacturer's
specifications.
4.5 Instructions for use
4.5.1 Waterproofing of expansion joints shall be made in accordance with working
drawings with due consideration of the Supplier's or Manufacturer's instructions on the use of
the material.
Prior to gluing waterproof bands, the surfaces shall be prepared in accordance with
technical specifications and instructions on the use of the material.
Surfaces prepared for application of waterproofing bands shall be accepted by the
Customer's quality control services.
Bands shall be glued with the quality control of the surfaces glued. During
waterproofing, adequate coating treatment is required.
Bands are stuck with each other by fusing using industrial drying fans.
4.6 Quality control and acceptance of waterproofing
4.6. l At the construction site, the Customer's quality control services shall proceed with:
incoming inspection of supplied materials;
monitoring of material storage conditions;
quality control of waterproofing operations;
monitoring of safe work execution;
environmental safety monitoring;
acceptance of intermediate waterproofing coating application operations;
acceptance of completed waterproofing operations .
While performing waterproofing operations, quality control services shall provide:
- quality control of the surface of concrete, metal and other expansion joint materials;
- in-process control over mastic compound application activities.
Quality control and acceptance of completed waterproofing operations shall be carried
out in accordance with technical specifications or Supplier's instructions on the use of materials.

The Supplier's or the Manufacturer's technical specifications and material use


instructions shall include safety requirements, in particular, fire safety and environmental
protection requirements.
Environmental impact shall not exceed the values specified in applicable regulatory
documents of the Customer.

5 MEMBRANE BITUMEN-POLYMER WATERPROOFING


5.1 General provisions
5.1.1 Non-solidifying waterproofing bitumen-polymer mastics are designed for
waterproofing concrete structures of underground parts of buildings and facilities, including free-
standing foundations .
5.2Technical requirements
Adhesion to concrete to be minimum 1.0 MPa as per GOST 26589-94.
Adhesion to metal to be minimum 1.0 MPa as per GOST 26589-94.
Thermal durability at a temperature of +60 °C within 5 hours - there shall be no
blistering of the sample surface as per GOST 26589-94.
The service life (adhesive and waterproofing properties) is minimum 60 years. Decline
of adhesive and waterproofing properties by 25 % (decrease of pressure in testing) is allowed.
Decline of these properties by a larger value shall be agreed upon with the design organization .
The material shall be waterproof. Water penetration resistance at a pressure of 0.1 MPa
to be for 24 hours - there shall be signs of water penetration on the sample surface as per
GOST 26589-94.
The mastic shall retain its adhesive and waterproofing prope1iies under attacks of diluted
acids solutions, alkalies and salts (pH from 3 to 10) as per GOST 12020-72.
Supplier shall guarantee the material conformity with the present requirements provided
that Consumer follows Supplier's transportation, storage and usage instructions.
5.3. Quality control and materials acceptance
5.3.l Manufacture, testing, preservation, packaging, marking, acceptance and
transportation of materials shall be done according to a quality assurance program developed by
Manufacturer or Supplier, with Customer's requirements taken into account.
Materials quality shall meet requirements of the technical specifications or usage
instructions, and these technical requirements.
Materials shall be accepted in batches. Each batch shall be manufactured from the same
components based on the same process procedure.
Test methods shall comply with Manufacturer's or Supplier's specifications as related
to basic requirements and requirements of standards specified in item 5.2 for:
- testing facilities;
measuring tools;
- instruments;
test preparation and performance procedure;
- result interpretation procedure.
Testing facilities, measuring tools and instruments shall be assigned by the laboratory
conducting the tests with due regard to the requirements of standards specified in item 5.2.
During manufacture and acceptance of materials, the following inspections shall be
performed:
- incoming inspection;
- in-process inspection;
- acceptance inspection in the following scope and sequence:
1) inspection and testing;
2) verification of completeness;
3) check-up of marking, preservation and packaging.

At the manufacturing plant materials shall undergo preliminary and acceptance tests.
Information certifying materials acceptance shall be registered in the data sheet.
Manufacturer shall take it into consideration that materials are subject to incoming
inspection and all the defects detected shall be rectified by the Manufacturer.
5.4 Requirements for packaging, transportation and storage
Conditions of transporting materials by rail, road or water shall provide against the
effects of environmental climatic factors.
Supplier shall deliver materials as a complete set, including technical documentation.
Conditions of materials storage at Manufacturer's and Consumer's sites shall provide
against the effects of environmental climatic factors.
Requirements for packaging, transportation and storage shall comply with
Manufacturer's specifications and constrnction site climatic conditions.
Customer shall store materials in accordance with Manufacturer's specifications.
5.5 Instructions for use
Mastics are applied on the reinforced concrete surfaces of structures according to the
working drawings with due regard to Supplier's or Manufacturer's material usage guidelines.
Prior to applying mastics, it is necessary to prepare concrete and metal surfaces - clear
them from debris, diii and dust in accordance with Supplier's or Manufacturer's material usage
guidelines.
Surfaces prepared for applying mastics shall be accepted by Customer's quality control
services.
During work execution, quality of mastics application shall be monitored. Once the

mechanical damage in accordance with Supplier's or Manufacturer's mastics usage guidelines.
5.6 Quality control and works acceptance
At the construction site Customer's quality control services shall carry out:
incoming inspection of the materials supplied;
materials storage monitoring;
quality control of waterproofing works;
works safety monitoring;
environmental safety monitoring;
acceptance of intermediate waterproofing works;
acceptance of completed waterproofing works.
When performing waterproofing works, quality control services shall carry out:
quality control of concrete and metal surfaces;
in-process inspection of mastic application works.
Quality control and acceptance of completed waterproofing works shall be carried out
in accordance with the requirements of technical specifications or Supplier's material usage
instructions.
Supplier's or Manufacturer's technical specifications and material usage instructions
shall contain safety requirements, including fire safety and environmental protection
requirements.
Impacts on the environment shall not exceed the values specified in Customer's effective
regulatory documents.

6 BITUMEN-POLYMER WATER PROOF NON-SOLIDIFYING


MASTIC FOR FILLING EXPANSION JOINTS
6.1 General provisions
Non-solidifying waterproofing bitumen-polymer mastics are designed for filling and
waterproofing expansion joints of reinforced concrete underground parts of buildings and
structures.
6.2 Technical requirements
6.2.1 Non-solidifying waterproofing bitumen-polymeric mastics of the Technomast type
(of the TechnoNICOL company), mastics of the EPOX KmB 100-AS (SPA
"SPETSKOMPOSIT") etc.
Adhesion to concrete to be minimum 1.0 MPa ns per GOST 26589-94.
Adhesion to metal to be minimum 1.0 MPa as per GOST 26589-94.
Adhesion to fusion-bonded waterproofing to be minimum 0.75 MPa as per
GOST 26589-94.
Thermal durability at a temperature of 60 °C within 5 hours -there shall be no blistering
of the sample surface as per GOST 26589-94.
The service life (adhesive and waterproofing properties) is minimum 60 years. Decline
of strain capacity, adhesive and waterproofing properties by 25 % (decrease of pressure in testing)
is allowed. Decline of these properties by a bigger value shall be agreed upon with the design
company.
The material shall be waterproof. Water penetration resistance at a pressure of 0.1 MPa
to be for 24 hours - there shall be no water signs on the sample surface as per GOST 26589-94.
The mastic shall retain its physical and mechanical properties, as related to strain
capacity, water resistance and adhesive properties, under attacks of diluted solutions of acids,
alkalies and salts (pH from 3 to 10) as per GOST 12020-72.
Supplier shall guarantee the material conformity with the present requirements provided
that Consumer follows Supplier's transportation, storage and usage instructions.
6.3. Quality control and materials acceptance
6.3.1 Manufacture, testing, preservation, packaging, marking, acceptance and
transportation of materials shall be done according to a quality assurance program developed by
Manufacturer or Supplier, with customer's requirements taken into account.
Materials quality shall meet requirements of the technical specifications or usage
instructions, and these technical requirements.
Materials acceptance shall be carried out in batches. Each batch shall be manufactured
from the same components as per the same process procedure.
Test methods shall comply with Manufacturer's or Supplier's specifications as related
to basic requirements and requirements of standards specified in item 6.2 for:
- testing facilities;
- measuring tools;
instruments;
test preparation and performance procedure;
result interpretation procedure.
Testing facilities, measuring tools and instruments shall be assigned by the laboratory
conducting the tests with due regard to the requirements of standards specified in item 6.2.

During manufacture and acceptance of materials, the following inspections shall be


performed:
incoming inspection;
in-process inspection;
acceptance inspection in the following scope and sequence:
1) inspection and testing;
2) verification of completeness;
3) check-up of marking, conservation and packaging.
At the manufacturing plant materials shall undergo preliminary and acceptance tests.
Information certifying materials acceptance shall be registered in the material certificate.
Manufacturer shall take it into consideration that materials are subject to incoming
inspection and all the defects detected shall be rectified using Manufacturer's resources.
' 6.4 Requirements for packaging, transportation and storage
6.4.1 Supplier shall deliver materials as a complete set, including technical
documentation.
Packaging, transportation and storage shall comply with Manufacturer's specifications
and provide against the effects of environmental climatic factors
Customer shall store materials in accordance with Manufacturer's specifications.
6.5 Instructions for use
6.5.1 Mastics are applied on the reinforced concrete surfaces of structures according to
the working drawings with due regard to Supplier's or Manufacturer's material usage guidelines.
Prior to applying mastics, it is necessary to prepare concrete and metal surfaces - clear
them from debris, dirt and dust in accordance with Supplier's or Manufacturer's material usage
guidelines.
Material surfaces prepared for applying mastics shall be accepted by Customer's quality
control services.
During work execution, quality of mastics application shall be monitored . Once the
mastics are applied, they should be protected, if required, against weather impacts and mechanical
damage in accordance with Supplier's or Manufacturer's mastics usage guidelines.
Examples of design solutions for waterproofing units are provided in Chapter 10.
6.6. Quality control and acceptance of waterproofing
6.6.1 At the construction site Customer's quality control services shall carry out:
incoming inspection of the materials supplied;
materials storage monitoring;
quality control of waterproofing works;
works safety monitoring;
environmental safety monitoring;
acceptance of intermediate waterproofing works;
acceptance of completed waterproofing works.
When performing waterproofing works, quality control services shall carry out:

7 WATERPROOF SWELLABLE BARS


7.1 General provisions
7.1.1 These technical requirements apply to waterproof swellable bars designed for
waterproofing of expansion joints in underground reinforced concrete elements of buildings and
structures.
7.2 Technical requirements
7.2.1 Strip-type waterproof swellable bars from TechnoNICOL, EPOX EPOX Prof-Bnt-
AS from SPA "SPETSKOMPOSIT" , Manodil Swell 2507 from Gidrozo company etc.
Waterproof materials shall have physical and mechanical characteristics, shown in
table 7.2.1.1.

provided that the Customer observes the requirements as to transportation, storage conditions and
the Supplier's instructions for the use of the material.
7.3 Quality control and materials acceptance
7.3.1 Manufacture, testing, preservation, packaging, marking, acceptance and
transportation of the materials shall be in accordance with the quality assurance program
developed by the Manufacturer or Supplier taking into account the Customer's requirements.
The quality of the materials shall meet the requirements of technical specifications or
instructions for use and these technical requirements.
Materials shall be accepted in batches. Each batch shall be manufactured according to
the same manufacturing procedure and from the same components.
Test methods shall comply with the Manufacturer's or Supplier's specifications
regarding basic requirements for:
testing facilities;
measuring tools;
instruments;
test preparation and performance procedure;
result interpretation procedure.
The following inspections shall be performed m the course of manufacturing and
acceptance procedure:
incoming inspection;
in-process inspection;
acceptance inspection including the following parts in the order specified below:
1) inspection and testing;
2) completeness verification;
3) inspection of markings, compliance with preservation requirements and
packaging.

The materials are subject to preliminary and acceptance tests at the Manufacturer's
facility.
Information confirming acceptance of the materials shall be included in the data sheet.
The manufacturer shall bear in mind that the waterproof materials are subject to an
incoming inspection and the detected defects shall be eliminated by the Manufacturer.
7.4 Requirements for packaging, transportation and storage
7.4.1 The Supplier shall deliver a complete package of materials, including technical
documentation.
Packaging, transportation and storage shall be carried out with due consideration of the
Manufacturer's requirements and the impact of climatic conditions.
Warehousing and storage is provided by the Customer in accordance with the
Manufacturer's requirements.
7.5 Instructions for use
7.5.1 The waterproof swellable bars are laid into concrete joints in accordance with the
working drawings with due consideration of the Supplier's or Manufacturer's instructions for
use.
The quality of joints shall be checked when laying waterproof swellable bars.
7.6 Quality control and acceptance of waterproofing works
7.6.1 The Customer's quality control personnel carries out the following inspections at
the construction site:
incoming inspection of supplied materials;
inspection of storage conditions;
- quality control of waterproofing works;
works safety monitoring;
- environmental safety monitoring;
acceptance of completed waterproofing works .
When performing waterproofing works, quality control personnel carries out:
- in-process inspections of waterproofing with swellable bars.
Quality control and acceptance of completed waterproofing works shall be carried out
in accordance with the requirements of technical specifications or the Supplier's instructions for
the use of the materials.
The Supplier's or Manufacturer's technical specifications and instructions for use of the
materials shall contain safety requirements, including fire safety and environmental protection
requirements.
The impact on the environment shall not exceed the values specified in the effective
regulatory documents of the Customer.

8 MATERIALS FOR EXPANSI ON JOINTS FILLING


8.1 General provisions
8.1.1 The materials are designed to form expansion joints with gaps as specified in the
working drawings
8.2 Technical requirements
8.2.1 It is advisable to use materials of polystyrene foam type to fill the expansion joints.
The material shall withstand loads from fresh concrete when concreting structures with
a height of up to 5 m.
Compressive strength at 10 % deformation - from 0.05 MPa to 0.2 MPa.
The material shall be waterproof , water absorption during 24 hours by the volume -max
0.1 %.
Geometrical parameters of the materials and maximum deviations shall be established
in accordance with the Supplier's or the Manufacturer's specifications and shall comply with
these requirements.
The supplier shall guarantee compliance of the material with the present requirements,
provided that the Customer observes the requirements as to transportation , storage conditions and
the Supplier's instructions for use of the material.
8.3 Quality control and materials acceptance
8.3.1 Manufacture, testing, preservation, packaging, marking, acceptance and
transportation of materials shall be in accordance with a quality assurance program, developed
by the Manufactur er or Supplier, taking into account the Customer's requirements.
The quality of the materials shall comply with the requirements of technical
specifications or instructions for use of the materials and these technical requirements .
Acceptance of the materials shall be carried out in batches. Each batch shall be
manufactured according to the same manufacturing procedure and from the same components .
Test methods shall comply with the Manufacturer's or Supplier's specifications
regarding basic requirements for:
- testing facilities;
- measuring tools;
- instruments;
- test preparation and performance procedure;
result interpretation procedure.
Testing facilities, measurement tools and instruments are assigned by a laboratory
conducting tests taking into account main requirements of GOST 15588-86.
The following types of inspections shall be performed in the course of manufacturing
and acceptance of the materials:
incoming inspection;
in-process inspections;
- acceptance inspections in the following scope and sequence:
1) inspection and testing;
2) completeness verification;
3) inspection of marking, preservation and packaging .
The materials are subject to preliminary and acceptance tests at the Manufacturer's
facility.
