This diagnostic is typically ACM Message Not Received or has Stopped Arriving.
1. Are there any battery voltage faults (Any SPN 168 FMI faults)?
[a] Yes; troubleshoot battery voltage faults first.
[b] No; go to the next step.
2. Has the ACM2/MCM2/or CPC2+ been recently programmed?
[a] Yes; clear the fault codes. If faults do not become active, release the vehicle. If faults
become active, go to next step.
[b] No; clear the fault codes. If faults do not become active, release the vehicle. If faults
become active, go to next step.
3. Turn ignition OFF and wait five minutes before proceeding; main battery power must be left
ON (The five minute time-frame allows the ACM2 to go completely offline).
4. Disconnect the MCM2 21-pin connector.
5. Measure and record the resistance across pins 13 and 19 of the MCM2 21-pin connector.

[a] If the resistance is greater than 80 ohms, go to next step.

[b] If the resistance is between 60 ± 20 ohms, reconnect the MCM2 21-pin connector and
go to step 16.
[c] If the resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace the PTCAN harness.
6. Disconnect the ACM2 21-pin connector.
7. Check ACM2 internal terminating resistor by measuring and recording the resistance across
pins 10 and 20 of the ACM2 21-pin connector.

[a] If the resistance is 120 ± 10 ohms, go to next step.

[b] If the resistance is not between 120 ± 10 ohms, replace the ACM2.
8. Disconnect the CPC2+ Connector #3.
9. Check CPC2+ internal terminating resistor by measuring and recording the resistance across
pins 19 and 21 of the CPC2+ Connector Cavity #3.

[a] If the resistance is 120 ± 10 ohms, go to next step.

[b] If the resistance is not between 120 ± 10 ohms, replace the CPC2+.
10. Check for continuity between CPC2+ connector #3 pin 19 and ACM2 21-pin connector pin 20.
[a] If there is continuity, go to the next step.
[b] If there is no continuity, repair the wire between CPC2+ connector #3 pin 19 and the
ACM2 21-pin connector pin 20.
11. Measure and record the resistance between CPC2+ connector #3 pin 21 and ACM2 21-pin
connector pin 10.
[a] If there is continuity, go to the next step.
[b] If there is no continuity, repair the wire between CPC2+ connector #3 pin 21 and ACM2
21-pin connector pin 10.
12. Measure and record the resistance between CPC2+ connector #3 pin 19 and MCM2 21-pin
connector pin 19.
[a] If there is continuity, go to the next step.
[b] If there is no continuity, repair the wire between CPC2+ connector #3 pin 19 and MCM2
21-pin connector pin 19.
13. Measure and record the resistance between CPC2+ connector #3 pin 21 and MCM2 21-pin
connector pin 13.
[a] If there is continuity, go to the next step.
[b] If there is no continuity, repair the wire between CPC2+ connector #3 pin 21 and MCM2
21-pin connector pin 13.
14. Measure and record the resistance between of the MCM2 21-pin connector pin 19 and of
the ACM2 21-pin connector pin 20.
[a] If there is continuity, go to the next step.
[b] If there is no continuity, repair the wire between MCM2 21-pin connector pin 19 and of the
ACM2 21-pin connector pin 20.
15. Measure and record the resistance between the MCM2 21-pin connector pin 13 and of the
ACM2 21-pin connector pin 10.
[a] If there is continuity, contact the Customer Support Center.
[b] If there is no continuity, repair the wire between MCM2 21-pin connector pin 13 and of the
ACM2 21-pin connector pin 10.
16. Disconnect the ACM2 21-pin connector.
17. Turn the ignition ON.

18. Measure the voltage between ACM2 21-pin connector pins 11, 12, 14, 15 and 18 (battery
voltage), pin 16 (ignition voltage) and ground.
[a] If the voltage is less than 11.5 volts, restore voltage to ACM2 21-pin connector pins 11,
12, 14, 15 and 18.
[b] If voltage is greater than 11.5, restore ground connection to ACM2 21-pin connector
pins 3, 5, 6 and 9.
