Oksigen Perifer Pada Pasien Yang Terpasang Ventilator
ABSTRACT
EFFECT OF 100% HYPER-OXYGENATION ON THE ACTIONS OF THE OPEN
SUCTION SYSTEM (OSS) FOR 10-15 SECONDS THROUGH ENDOTRACHEAL
TUBE (ETT) ON INCREASING PERIPHERAL OXYGEN SATURATION IN
PATIENTS WHO HAVE VENTILATORS ATTACHED
Background: Hyper-oxygenation is an option to avoid hypoxemia due to the Open Suction System (OSS).
The easiest way to find out about hypoxemia is by looking at the patient's peripheral oxygen saturation.
Objective: To analyze the effect of 100% hyper-oxygenation on the actions of the Open Suction System
(OSS) for 10-15 seconds through Endotracheal Tube (ETT) on increasing peripheral oxygen saturation in
patients who have ventilators attached. Methods: Quasi Experimental with a Time Series approach conducted
on December 18, 2018 to January 10, 2019 with a consecutive sampling technique of 16 respondents. Data
analysis techniques in the study used the Friedman test. Results: There was a difference in average peripheral
oxygen saturation before intervention until after the third intervention P value 0.001. Peripheral oxygen
saturation before intervention until the 3rd intervention in respondents with <96% peripheral oxygen
saturation increased 4-11% while peripheral oxygen saturation ≥96% increased by 1-3%. Conclusion: There
is a statistically significant change of 100% hyper-oxygenation in the actions of the Open Suction System
(OSS) for 10-15 seconds through Endotracheal Tube (ETT) on increasing peripheral oxygen saturation in
patients with hypoxemia (saturation <96%). Recommendation: This study is then expected to observe
confounding factors such as ventilator mode which will affect the peripheral oxygen saturation of the
respondents given 100% hyper-oxygenation during the Open Suction System (OSS).
