THE PARISH CATECHETICAL PROGRAM

(Catechesis and Spiritual Formation for the Parish)

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Mt 28:18-20
Purpose of this Document

In making this catechetical plan, it is wished to affirm our deep commitment to catechesis as one of the primary tasks of our Church in
the Parish as it is of the universal Church. It is wished likewise to manifest our unwavering conviction that if catechesis is done well in
our own Ministry and Organization, everything else will be easier to do inside our Local Church (Parish). For the more we give
catechesis priority over the other works and undertakings the more will we find in catechesis a strengthening of the internal life of our
faithful and of the external activity of our Apostolate and Ministry.

While catechesis always has been and always will be a work for which the whole Church must feel responsible and must wish to be
responsible, it is acknowledge that beyond all others, we in the Parish Pastoral Council along with the Parish Catechesis and
Formation Ministry and the Parish Catechetical Office, are primarily responsible for catechesis inside the Parish. Above all, it should
bring about and maintain the Catechist and those who are involved and work in evangelizing and catechizing a real passion for
catechesis, a passion embodied in a pertinent and effective organization, putting into operation the necessary personnel, means
and equipment, and also financial resources. It is in this context therefore that it is ought to transmit this Catechetical Program that it
may guide our Parish for its ministry of catechesis.

May the Blessings of the Almighty Father and the Joy, Love and Innocence of Sto Niño guides, clarify and lead our Parish and its
intensions into the path where our Lord want us to be. Amen!

Mission Statement (of the Parish)

Vision Statement (of the Parish)

General Objectives

- Catechesis in the Parish should aim not only to a simple intellectual and cognitive assent to religious truths and doctrines of
the Catholic Faith but also to a total commitment of one's whole being to the Person of Christ in union with the Church.

REMEMBER:

- Needs assessment is periodic (annually, every last Sunday before the start of Advent), evaluation should be ongoing.
- Needs assessment discerns the needs of the parish members; looking at demographic and socioeconomic make-up.
- Stay within the parameters of catechesis; the program can’t solve all the needs of the Parish.
- Evaluate how well you have achieved your defined goals. The results will determine if changes are necessary.
- The primary benefit of evaluation is early detection of problems.
