This study examined the relationship between motivation and blood sugar control behavior in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at a community health center in Banyuwangi, Indonesia in 2017. The study used a correlational cross-sectional design with 39 respondents. The results showed a high correlation between motivation and active blood sugar control behavior. Statistical analysis found a relationship between motivation in type 2 diabetes patients and their blood sugar control behavior. High motivation is needed to improve blood sugar control behavior in people with diabetes.

BEHAVIOR (CONTROL) BLOOD SUGAR AT PUSKESMAS SOBO DISTRICT BANYUWANGI YEAR 2017

Diabetes mellitus is one of the degenerative diseases in which
carbohydrate metabolism, fat and protein disorders occur and is characterized by high levels of sugar in the blood and in the urine. To prevent the disease one of them with the behavior of blood sugar control. In the behavior of blood sugar control in people with diabetes mellitus is necessary a motivation, because the motivation itself begins from the existence of individual needs in the form of active energy that causes the emergence of a certain intensity of encouragement that serves to activate, give direction, create persisten from a behavior to meet the needs be the cause of encouragement in the behavior of blood sugar control. This study was conducted with the aim to determine the relationship of motivation of type 2 diabetes mellitus with the behavior (control) of blood sugar at puskesmas sobo district banyuwangi year 2017. The research method used is correlational using crossectional method. The population in this study were 44 respondents then the sampling technique was used using purposive sampling with inclusion and exclusion criteria. The number of respondents was 39 respondents. The results show there is a high motivational relationship with the active behavior of blood sugar control. The analysis used in this research is chi square test using spss 19 with p = 0,021 <0,05, so it can be concluded that there is relationship between motivation of type 2 diabetes mellitus with behavior (control) of blood sugar at puskesmas sobo. From the results of research that has been done shows that the motivation is needed in an effort to improve one's behavior, as in people with diabetes mellitus in controlling blood sugar. So for the realization of the need to control the active blood sugar required a high motivation.
