Eligibility:
All candidates applying for the examination MUST possess a recognized basic medical
degree (MBBS).

for further details and syllabus for the exam.

Application:
This is a conjoint exam. All candidates taking this exam in Singapore must submit both
the Primary MMED (Surgery) application form (online) and MRCS Part A application form
(hardcopy).

Primary MMED (Surgery) Application


Applicants are to submit an online application by creating an account at
https://medworks.nus.edu.sg/osca/home.aspx and submit the application by Friday, 08
February 2019, 2359hrs. Only application fee is applicable upon submission of application.
MMED Exam Fee will apply upon acceptance and confirmation of placement after the
MRCS application form, completed with payment is received from candidate. Fee must
be paid no later than Wednesday, 13 February 2019, 2359hrs else the application will be
rejected.

MRCS Part A Application


Applicants must submit this form via paper application by completing the application
form which can be downloaded from http://medicine.nus.edu.sg/dgms/surgery.htm

All applications (inclusive of the non - refundable SGD 50 application fees) should be
made online by the closing date as stipulated above. A complete application should be
supported by Tax Invoice (also known as the receipt) which is downloadable from the
system.

A successfully completed application does not indicate a successful placement or


admission into the course. All applications and fees must be submitted by the closing
date as stipulated above. Late or incomplete applications will not be entertained.
Hardcopy (for Primary MMed) and email applications (for both) will be not accepted.
The following documents must be submitted together with your application:
 IMRCS Part A Exam application form, duly completed
 2 recent passport-sized photograph (image has to be 400 x 514 pixels)
 Certified true copy / scanned coloured copy of the following documents :
o MBBS certificate*
o NRIC : for locals / Permanent Residents
o Employment Pass and Passport : for foreigners (residing in Singapore)

Photocopies of certificates and/or official translations (in English)* including any other
official supporting documents will be accepted only if they have been prepared and/or
authenticated by one of the following:
 Medical Council of which you are registered and licensed to practice
 Ministry of Health, Singapore;
 a notary public or Justice of the Peace;

 Division of Graduate Medical Studies (DGMS) - For authentication by DGMS office,
original certificates and documents must be produced.

*Candidates must submit an authenticated translation if their official supporting


documents is not in English. A fresh ink stamp must be used to authenticate the copy or
translation of the primary medical qualification.

Candidates who fail to present their original documents for verification without
acceptable reasons will not be admitted to the examination.

Candidates whose original documents have been damaged or misplaced must apply to
the relevant organizations / authorities for replacements or letters of verification.

DGMS is not obliged to provide reasons for unsuccessful applications. Other respective
rules/regulations of DGMS will apply.

Withdrawal Policy:
Primary MMed Part A:
If an applicant decides to withdraw after placement is confirmed, he/she must write in to
DGMS.
 If a written notice of withdrawal is received before the acceptance of placement
deadline, a refund, less the application fee will be made
 If a written notice of withdrawal is received after the acceptance of placement
deadline, or the applicant fails to attend the course for any reason, no refund will
be administered

IMRCS Part A:
The prevailing MRCS Regulations would apply. For information and procedure on the
withdrawal of IMRCS exams, please visit the RCSEd website at http://www.rcsed.ac.uk.
