A Prosecutor’s Vision
I choose this article by Adam Foss he started off his career as a young prosecutors and he
had a vision for a better justice system. He is looking at the justice now and feel that it is
constantly failing everyone who is being prosecuted and sent to prison. He feels that they all
shouldn’t be tried as criminals and some of those people given the opportunity and can live a
prosperous life. Day in and out he watched several prosecutors take people’s lives and just
throw them in jail for life terms instead of creating a better situation or putting some of those
people in a better situation by helping them to achieve that. He did a lot of research on cases
that were coming into the courtroom and see people’s lives just being ruined and the book
thrown at them. Why spend so much money in the justice system and we could have used this
money before the crime had happened or occurred. Why not? We need major changes today!
The money that’s being spent into our jails and prisons is money is that he felt could have
maybe been used for good thing’s instead of spending so much money on our jails and how
much it even costs for someone to go to jail. Why not make these changes to help people in
society to have better lives? Instead of so much on this old justice system which has constantly

with offenders and reoffenders and now there in the system and now being listed as a felon
and at that point your life is ruined. He feels that the system is set up to keep minorities and
underprivileged people in the system because of how it effects your life. He feels that we could
have predicted that outcome and thing’s young men re accused for all jut led them to the court
seat to go away for the rest of their lives. The changes in criminal justice.
He wants to talk about the system needs reform the way the old system is its set up to see
people fail. One of his firsts cases he remembers this one in particular. A young man by the
name of Christopher who was a senior in high school who had his mind set on going to college
at the time he was just working a part time job and that wasn’t going to cut it. He decided to
steal 30 laptops from Best Buy and sold them on the internet to fund his schooling. This led to
his arrest when he got caught and Adam was the prosecutor on his case at the time. They
charged him with 30 criminal charges and any other prosecutor would have thrown him in
prison probably for a life term. But Adam saw something different in the kid he didn’t see him
as a criminal. He saw his file on his desk and knew that this was a major decision for
Christopher’s life but he didn’t want to ruin it he didn’t want to be the typical prosecutor who
would have not given him another chance. He decided not to arraign Christopher because he
knew how that would have affected him for the rest of his life. He did not want to ruin his life.

He later ran into Christopher 6 years later and he recognized Adam from afar. Adam was
trying to remember him and finally put it together well it was Christopher and he had finished
school and now the manager of a high ranked bank and doing very well for himself. He had
done a 360 and praised him for believing in him, caring about him and giving him a second
chance. He knew that things definitely could have turned out different but he seen a lot of
potential in him with the right help. Prosecutor’s make these decisions everyday he decided
not to send him to prison. He ran into him later on his life. He made him accountable for his
wrongdoing and tried to keep him on the right path versus him being condemned in jail. The
employed Christopher is better than him being locked up Christopher. And this is why Adam is
all about trying to make changes to the justice system. Adam would that money go to help
create a get a better life for our people who fall into the system so that they don’t get their life
ruined and can’t get a job/career because you have a record and you are a felon. A lot of the
people now are locked up for this very reason no help and they fail in the system and once in
So why not reallocate the billions of dollars that are being spent in the prison system
that has constantly failed us. Let’s create a better future and put this money and invest this into
our future. We need to use this money for better solution’s because this old justice system
doesn’t make sense and is not the best solution to the problem. This was supposed to help with
the crime rate which that is increasing day by day. Let’s put the bad guys away. But as it stands
now today we are putting the ones who may have needed a second chance away too. So what

that does is ruin his or her future. We need to also develop our neighborhoods they are being
torn apart.
prosecutor’s some are just there to throw the book at everyone without really looking into the
file seeing if this person may have some potential given better opportunities. We need the
prosecutors who are trying to keep people out of jails instead of the ones who are spending
more money to keep locking folks up and don’t care. Why spend 80 billion dollars into the
prison industry and its constantly failing. We need to create more opportunities, get
intervention help and support and love. Our voice needs to be heard. This comes from the
power of voting.

Race with the Machines
This author Erik Brynjolfsson is realizing that machines are taking over and taking our
jobs we must keep up with innovation and not let the machines push out of work. Because of
the rise of computers and machines people are out of work and are getting paid less. We must
He gave an example of now people using tax software instead of using their tax
professional which this essentially has put a lot of tax consultants out of work. We must keep
up with technology and yes, it is growing fast. Everything now is being done by a machine
nowadays.
Soon a lot of us are going to be put out of work. When we call to make payments with
Comcast we now deal with a computer versus a telephone operator. Making credit card
payments, car payments and pretty much all of your bills are paid on the computer or by a
machine over the phone. Erik wants to keep up with technology and we are the reason that
technology is moving forward through the knowledge of engineers, scientists and etc. This
author Erik wants to change the new trend of the computers taking over and putting us out of
