Reality of traffic in Hanoi?

Traffic is considered as a complicated problem which cities around the world have
to cope with, especially in densely populated cities of developing countries. In
Hanoi, there are more and more people who have died in traffic accidents and
congestion is also a daily nightmare with drivers. It is very clear to see that low
infrastructure is a primary cause to examining carefully so as to find efficient
solutions.

To begin with, low infrastructure including roads, sewage systems and traffic light
leads to the traffic issue in Hanoi. Firstly, the roads are too narrow to travel so
drivers have difficulties in moving along the street, especially in rush hours .
Besides, many pot-holes can appear everywhere to threaten the goers. No lane or
ambiguous lane is also one of a key roles in causing both traffic jam and motorway
crashes. It is obvious that the streets are full of vehicles, such as: cars, bikes, buses,
containers, … which causes a fuss without median strips. Secondly, sewage system
has been deteriorated day by day. In fact, whenever it rains, lots of streets are
flooded for broken pipes or blocked sewage systems. Therefore, not only are
vehicles broken but it also threatens the goers. Finally, wrong position of traffic
lights is one of drawbacks linking to the problems on the roads. Traffic lights and
signs are sometimes located in position that is hard for drivers to see. In addition,
some crossroads are becoming more dangerous for no traffic light or sign.

To improve transportation systems in Hanoi, some steps are highly recommended.

Firstly, the government in Vietnam must invest in building or developing
transportation systems. Roads and streets need widening scientifically, which helps
vehicles travel more conveniently and avoid congestion. Thus drivers can reduce
stress on peak hours and pollution from fume is also prevented. Secondly, upgraded
sewage systems stop flooding in rain seasons. Besides, traffic lights are suggested in
suitable position for drivers to follow. Last but not least, it is necessary to raise
awareness of citizens in complying with traffic instruction, which is key measure to
solve the traffic issue in our capital.

To conclude, traffic jam in Hanoi day by day is still intricate to solve for many
reasons. One of those is related to low-qualified infrastructure. However, if people
take right action to update infrastructure, the situation of traffic in Hanoi will
become better than ever before.
