5 L1stll pivot housing-tojront axte support nut and tighten

to 298 N m (220 tb-ft).

6. lnstall steering cylinder bracket-to-pivot housing. Tighlen

cap screws to 73 N.m (54 tb_ft).

_lnstall drive shaft to yoke. Tighten cap screws to 61 N.m
(45 rb-fr).

9. Position drive Iine shield in front support and install
retaining plate and cap screw.

1 0. Grease U-joint axle at axle seal and bushjng surface with

special grease provided with axle and spindlJseals.

IMPOBTANT: Be sure the shorter two wheel

spindle cap
screws are installed in the bottom two
holes to prevent steering interference.

11. lnstall wheel spindle-to_steering knuckle cap

screws
and tighren to 295 N.m (218 tb_ft).

12. Refill axte housing with GL5,85W_140 cear

Lubricant.

CHANGING DIFFERENTIAL DRIVE SHAFT

SEAL

1 . Remove drive-line shielding and drive shaft from di{feren-

tial drive shalt yoke.

IMPORTANT: In order not to disturb rolling drag torque,

mark ditlerential drive shatt and nut be-
lore disassembly. This will insure proper
reassembly.

2. Mark differential drive'shaft and nut.

3. Remove cotter prn.

4. Install yoke holding tool (A).

5. Remove nut (B), washer, yoke and old seal.

6. Clean seal bore, removing any ridges with emery cloth.

7. Pack back side and between lips of seal approximately

50 pecent full with Non-Clay, High Temperature, Exlreme
Pressure (EP) grease.

L Lightly coat outside diameter of seal with GL5, 85W/140

Gear Lubricant.

9, Install seal using JDG524 Seal Driver until driver botloms

on housing.

10. Install yoke and washer.

11. Install castle nut. Tighten nut 1o original posilion, by

aligning indexing marks made at Step 2.

NOTE: lf yoke was replaced, torque nut to 320 N'm (236

lb-ft). lf necessary, continue tightening nut until
cotter pin hole in shaft aligns with slot in nut Do not
exceed 350 N n (258 lb-ft).

Install cotter pin.

3. Reinstall drive line and drive line shielding.
