NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 23rd May, 1990
G. S.R. 507(E):—In exercise of the po wers conferred by section 15 of the
Government Savings Banks Act, 1873(5 of 1873), the Central Government
hereby makes the following rules further to am;nd the Post Office Time
Deposit Rules, 1981, namely:-
1. (1) These rules may be called the Post Office Time Deposit (Amend-
ment) Rules, 1990.
(2)They shall come into force on the date of their publication in
the Official Gazette.
2. In the Post Office Time Deposit Rules, 1981,-
(a) in rule 4,-
(i) in sub-rule (1) for the word "deposits" the words "a deposit"
shall be substituted;
(ii) in Table below sub- rule (2), against S. No.55— Charitable Endow-
ment account, under colunm (3), for the words "one account"
the words "one or more accounts" shall be substituted.
(b) in rule 5,-
(i) for sub-rule (1) the following sub-rule shall bs b ; substituted,
namely:-
"There shall be only one deposit in an account. The deposit shall
be in a multiple of fifty rupees. There is no maximum lira it for the
amount of deposit in an account".

(if) in sub-rule (2), for the words "Each deposit" the words
' 'The deposit" shall be substituted.
(c) in rule 6, in sub-rule (1) for the words "re-deposit the amount
in the same or another account, as the case may ba", ths word s
"redeposit the amount in a new account to bs opened" shall be
substituted.
(d) in rule 10, in sub-rule (4), the word "Last" shall be omitted.
(e) in rule 11, in sub-rule (2), for the words "any outstanding amount
of deposits", the words "any outstanding amount of deposit"
shall be substituted.
