• Navigating the Course:

We have tried to make navigating the course as easy as possible. Within the course portal you will find links
to each individual lesson. Click on the link to the lesson and then on the enter button and that lesson will

The individual topics in that lesson are featured on the opening window and there is also a menu containing
all topics on the left hand side.

The sub-topics / pages can be shown or hidden by clicking on the small arrow for that topic.

• Software Packages & Resources:

As well as teaching the HTML Programming Language and Cascading Style Sheets, we have also included
some exercises in using popular design software such as Paint Shop Pro, Dreamweaver and ShopFactory
Pro.

We have supplied appropriate trial software for use on a Windows O/S Computer and have also included
alternative software for Apple Mac users although if your computer differs from these platforms then you
may need to source alternative software packages.

• Support:

You will be fully supported through the course for a one year period from registration and 3, 6 and 12 month
extensions are available for a small fee.

You can email your tutor at any time on support@distance-learning-centre.co.uk.

When sending emails please chose a relevant subject title and try to include as much information as possible.
If your query relates to your work then please zip up your lesson folder and include that as an attachment
so we can view your web page and what might be causing a problem.

• Returning Coursework:

Coursework is returned on completion of your course. We advise zipping up the Assignments folder as we
need to look through all of your exercises and the final website you have produced.

You should contact your tutor about submitting your work and you will receive instructions on how this can
be done. The easiest way to return your work is by email/Hightail, but alternatively the assignments folder
can be copied to a CD/DVD and returned by post.

• Open Awards Certification:

On successful completion of the course, students will receive feedback on their work
and will be awarded our own Webmaster - HTML and CSS Certificate and feedback.
Providing the work is of the required standard then students can also apply for the
Open Awards Level 3 Webmaster - HTML and CSS Certification.

An application form is included within the course notes and can be submit as part of the final assessment
process. If the feedback requires any amendments then this will be detailed so that you can make the
necessary changes for your application. This is a Level 3 certificate Award and has 8 Open Award credits.
Open Award Credits can be accumulated with other course or unit credits over a period of time which can
lead to an accredited qualification.
