Aspen Hysys Simulation

Introduction
Aspen Hysys 8.4 used to create the PFD of Organic Rankin cycle and
determine the Performance of the cycle.

PFD of Organic Rankin cycle

The refrigerant (R-245) by default is not included in the Hysys databank so

it introduced to the Hysys program using the properties in table-1.
The fluid package selected is (SRK).
The heat content of flue gas simulated as Energy Stream (Waste Heat)
Which equal 24400 Kw (24 MW).

Assumptions
The evaporator and condenser assumed as isobaric.
The pump and turbine assumed adiabatic with efficiency 75%.
The following table summarizes data obtained from the simulation

W pump=Pump work [Kw]
Q evaporator=Inlet waste heat [Kw]
Ƞ= efficiency

Conclusion

Aspen Hysys is a useful program that used to evaluate the performance of ORC
Aspen Hysys helps in calculating the required flow rate of the refrigerant .The required
flow rate of working fluid (R-245) equal 260.389 m3/h.
During the building of the simulation attention for the proper fluid package is considered
SRK and Peng-Robinson are the suitable to calculate the enthalpy and the heat flow.
