WELCOME DAVID YOHN

We are blessed as Montgomery Baptists to be kingdom
partners with many churches and ministries here in the
River Region and beyond. One such partner is the
Alabama Baptist Children’s Home (ABCH). This group is
an entity of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.
Their main base of operations is Birmingham, with
numerous area stations, including Montgomery. We at the
MBA are fortunate to act as host to their River Region
office and the fine people who work every day to be an
advocate for orphan care.
Neal Hughes
Director of Missions In March, David Yohn (pictured below) became ABCH’s
area director for Montgomery, Dallas, Lowndes, Autauga,
Elmore, Macon and Lee counties. David recently retired after 32 years in
education, the last assignment being the
assistant principal at Trinity Upper
School. He has also been a coach
wherever he served, recently being
engaged at Trinity with football,
basketball and tennis.
David and his wife, Nicole, have two
sons. Jack is a student at Auburn and
plays in the famous AU Marching
Band. Jake is a student at Trinity who
also plays in the band. The Yohn
family are members at Heritage Baptist
Church, where David is a deacon and
Nicole is the pastor’s administrative
assistant.
David was saved as a young child at the First Baptist Church in Eufaula, Alabama.
Nicole is a native of Atlanta. This godly couple met and married in Atlanta in
1993. They were members of Smyrna’s First Baptist Church before coming to
Montgomery in 2006 to serve at Trinity.
When asked about his new job, this humble brother said he would like to spend
time learning the state and local history of ABCH. By better knowing the foster
parents and their needs, he will be a stronger advocate. One of the principle goals
in David’s job description is building relationships with local churches. “I want to
help our churches know better how to pray, participate and provide for the foster/
adoptive care effort in the River Region.” David further stated, “I want to see us
serve families as fully and as far as the Holy Spirit will allow.” I asked David
which scripture guided toward his career change. He replied,
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not to your
own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and
he shall direct your paths” Proverbs 3:5-6.
We are delighted that God has led the Alabama Baptist
Children’s Home to call David as part of the larger MBA
family. On behalf of the Montgomery Baptist Association,
welcome dear brother! You can reach David Yohn at
dyohn@alabamachild.org / 334-782-2089. Invite him to help
you know better how to operate as a James 1:27 church.
Mary and I cherish the joy of serving the River Region with
each of you. Always remember…
Together We Can!
