The Hydrologic Equation ELEMENTS OF HYDROLOGIC CYCLE

Evaporation - Process by which the surface of a liquid
Inflow = Outflow +/- Change in Storage
absorbs enough energy to change into a gas
Condensation - Process by which a gas changes to a
liquid or solid; Dew, Frost, Fog, Haze,

Hydrogeology Precipitation - Different forms of water that falls back
to the earth's surface as Rain, Sleet, Mist,

Transpiration - Process by which water is evaporated

Percolation - Percolation is part of the water cycle that occurs

MONO LAKE evapotranspiration, (uptake by plants and release to atmosphere).

Runoff - some part of precipitation onto the ground becomes

surface runoff or overland flow
PROBLEMS TO SOLVE
Recharge - Infiltration that reaches to the water table becomes
2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 groundwater, and is termed recharge

Vadose Zone - The infiltrated water above the water table forms
an unsaturated (vadose) zone where pores are filled with a mixture
of air and water. Pore pressure is negative in this zone.
