The program started at 7:00 o’
clock in the evening. Pambayang Kolehiyo
ng Mauban Dancers opened the program
with a divinous interpretative dance prayer.
The Philippine National Anthem and and
Lalawigan ng Quezon were accompanied p. 9

The participants arrived a day before the
ceremony and were given the opportunity to meet and
greet their fellow delegates.
“Malugod po naming kayong tinatanggap sa
aming bayan ng Mauban” Mayor Llamas expressed
in his speech. “Napaka-palad ng aming bayan na
makapag-host ng isang mahalagang okasyong ito” he
said.
SDS Merthel M. Evardome also welcomed
the delegates and congratulated the delegates having
come that far. She emphasized that the event is more
than just a sports competition. She said that it is also
an opportunity to widen their range of experience to
excel and build friendships with which has starting
points from each one of the participants straight to the
congressional, provincial, national levels and then
finally, to international level.
The said occasion also highlighted the
awarding of a check from the Provincial Government
of Quezon amounting to three hundred and twenty-
five thousand pesos as a subsidy for the event. The
check is presented by BM Talaga.

True to its mission, the Mauban LGU has
been supporting the Department of Education’s
academic and extracurricular activities and
programs for decades. Just recently, Mayor Llamas
was awarded Quezon Medalya ng Karangalan for an
invaluable exemplar in public service.
Mauban is still the home for the upcoming
division-wide meet to be held in August 2018.
The town is expected to host the different
sports competitions for hundreds of participants the
Schools Division of City of Tayabas, Division of
City of Lucena and the Schools Division of Quezon,
respectively.
The program was concluded by Hon.
Reymark M. Alpuerto, SB Member Committee in
Sports.

Pagbilao was the overall champion in
Arnis Anyo competition elementary level boys
and girls in the first congressional athletic meet
held on August 23, 2018, at the covered court of
Dr. Maria D. Pastrana National High School
Mauban, Quezon which was started at around
7:00 am until 1:00 pm.

First Place in 100m run elementary boys finals
last August 23.
Mirandilla defeated his opponent from
the different municipalities of the First District.
Ramon A. Rivera Jr. from Real, Shan
Jayver Pedernal from Islanders, and MC James
Bolante from Jomalig won the second, third, and
fourth place respectively.

Paul Andrei V. Balmeo of Lucban won
the first place in the 800 m run finals last August
23.
Balmeo defeated his opponent from

Mauban gains victory in
Double Bocce

Zyrus Atienza and Angeline Ladia of Mauban
South District gave their best shot as they surpassed
Lucban and Sampaloc in double Bocce in the First
Congressional District Athletic Meet held in Mauban
South Oval, August 21.
Mrs. Cynthia Leogo, SPED Teacher I trained the
two players to make it in the final round.
Meanwhile, Leandro Veloso and Kristine Anola
from Lucban and Sampaloc grabbed the second and
third place in double Bocce.
In the single boys Bocce, Kenn Espinosa from
Lucban surpassed the odds as he made a triumphant
success as First Place.
Nico Rey Nipales from Mauban and Johnrey
Tinamisan from Pagbilao were hailed as second and
third placers.
In the search of the best Bocce girls players,
Analyn Santillan from Pagbilao struck the gold.
Silver and bronze were taken away by Mary Jillian O.
Cadiz of Sampaloc and Analyn Santillan of Pagbilao.
For the team Bocce, Mauban was hailed as
champion against Pagbilao and Sampaloc who occupied
the second and third place respectively.
Balmeo hails champion in
1500m run
Paul Andrei Balmeo of Lucban grabbed the
championship in 1500 m held in Mauban in the First
Congressional Athletic Meet, August 21.
Among his contenders were from Jomalig,
Lucban, and Gen. Nakar.
Balmeo gave his best shot and maintained his
prowess to win the competition.
Joshua Balaguer of Islanders, Jeejay C. Villon of
Lucban, and Romnick Flora of Gen. Nakar grabbed the
second, third, and fourth place respectively.

in running 100 metres

Pagbilao Elementary Girls hails championship
in the track event in 1st Congressional District 2018.
Zultado, Jozaine from Pagbilao, Quezon ended
the day in the first place after clocking 15:06 in the 100
m to Balce 15:37. Balce, Mary Grace from Jomalig was
bumped down to third place by silver medallist, Faller,
Faye Ann from Lucban, Quezon, who ran 15:37.
Having won the 100m, Zultado recorded 22.63
in the 110m Hurdles. Balce from Jomalig, got second
place of 22.78 & number 441 from Mauban got third
place.
For the third event, Zultado won the Running
Relay & Balce got second place. Number 611 from
Real, Quezon got third place. In 400m,
Pakingan, Rose Ann from Pagbilao won first place,
De Rama, Rei Ann from Pagbilao also got second
place. Mary Shane Calar from Islanders was the third
placer.
Pagbilao Elem. Girls number 520 achieved
first place in 800m finals, Jomalig # 216 got second
place and Sampaloc # 701 got third place.
In 1500 m Long Run, Bilaos, Angel Anne
from Gen. Nakar won and PR of 5:59:25. Tapado, Jen
Clarih of 6:13:78 achieves second place from Jomalig
and Aura Cashbelle from Infanta got the third place of
6:13:86.

CALCULATING ATTACK. The sepak takraw teams
from Mauban and Pagbilao fight for the qualifying
round.
The intense heat of the sun in the afternoon
is nothing as compared to the heat exerted by the
teams of Mauban and Infanta when they won the
first round of the Sepak Takraw game Elementary
Level (Male Category) against their opponents at the
Covered Court of Brgy. Bagong Bayan.
The sepak takraw teams from Bordeos and Infanta.
Mauban having scores of 21 on the 1st and
2nd sets respectively, won against Pagbilao who
earned 11 and 17 points on the two sets of the game.
Infanta faced-off with Burdeos and garnered scores
of 21 and 16 on the first two sets of the game that
resulted to having a third set of the game.
Bordeos on the other hand, garnered scores
of 19 and 21 on the two sets but wasn’t able to win
against Infanta on the last set.
Players from all the teams showed teamwork
and sportsmanship during the game as they happily
shook hands with one another after each game win
or they lose.

Mauban, Quezon as the competition begin at exactly
1:30 in the afternoon, August 22, 2018.
The Islander and Sampaloc clinched the top
spots in the boy’s singles as Reiner Magpantay of
Islander defeated Franklin Racoma of Lucban, 21-6,
21-12, and Kiel Hubert Caňada of Islander, 23-21, 21-
10 to dominate Mark Jay Oareza of Pagbilao.
Sampaloc emerged victorious was James Gabriel
Laguador beat Wayne Kristopher Reyes of Mauban,
21-13, 21-9 and Reiven Julian Dayo of Sampaloc
defeated Kim Astena of Gen. Nakar, 21-19, 21-8.
Dwayne Andrei Villarazo of Mauban nipped
the victory to Aldrin Ibarrola of Lucban, 21-15, 21-8.
Justine Carlo Espiritu defeated Ralph Dieter Sosa of
Gen. Nakar, 21-10, 21-13.
The lethal tandem of Morriz Mancenido and
Christian Hanes Dayo captured the crown in the boy’s
doubles and defeated Lawrence Ledesma and Justine
Saide of Mauban, 21-13, 21-9.
Vicent Jess Zaide and Leandro Miguel Beltran
of Lucban first nipped Ron Kevin P. Aguando and
Daniel T. Orozco of Real, 21-12 and escaped the
second set, 14-21 and won on third set, 21-16. The
smashers player of Islander, Dan Macalin Suarez and
LanceEdrein Peňamante defeated Bryan Miguel

At last, the game for lawn tennis had ended.
Realeño grabbed two gold medals after winning in
Single B Girls and Single A Boys category while
Islanders bagged the golds in Single B Boys and
Doubles Boys category.
Vincent A. Ibabao, athletes from Real blanked
Vince Kendrick A. Deapera in a championship game
in Lawn Tennis for Single A Boys. He is a grade six
pupil at Real Central Elementary School. He has
started playing lawn tennis only last year when he was
in grade five. Although it was his first time to join this
competition, he was very determined to win the game.
“Wala naman po sa tagal yun ng paglalaro,
nasa kung paano po yun nilalaro. Dapat pokus lang
po sa kalaban at wag masisiraan ng loob”, Vincent
said.
Maryjane Peñaverde, Vincent’s fellow realeño
also made it to the last after beating Jean Valerie
Espanto of Polilio in the championship game for
Single B Girls category. Maryjane is Vincent’s
classmates in Real Elementary School. The two are
always together during their practice and training.

ISLANDERS’ PRIDE: Arvin Dela Cruz runs fast so as

They were blessed to have a school with a
facility for lawn tennis. They always play lawn tennis
every day after class hours. Maryjane’s approach of
the game helped her to reach the top.
“Siguro po yung pagiging madiskarte ko sa
laro ang naging dahilan para maging champion ako
sa larong ito”, said Maryjane.
Meanwhile, their colleagues failed to get the
gold in the championship game for Single B Boys
and Doubles Boys category. Arvin Dela Cruz,
Polilio’s neophyte player, scored 8-5 victory over
Realeño skipper Justine Bernard Villasis in Single B
Boys championship round.
Also, Islander Christian Jay A. Gaspar and
Mark Lawrence A. Fortunado overpowered David
Lee R. Abella and Mac Arvin L. Combalicer of Real
after scoring 8-3 in Doubles Boys category. The two
novice players got nervous at first but became so
resolute up to the last.

Lucban Taekwondo Team bagged 9 gold
medal, while the Mauban Taekwondo Team got 2
gold medal in the elementary level at the 1 st
Congressional District Sports Competition held in
Niyogyugan Hall, Mauban, Quezon on the 23rd of
August, 2018.
In the girl’s individual poomsae event; Moira
Kassandra Cada (Lucban) got gold medal on
Category A, while Denise Danoa (Mauban) got silver
medal. On category B, Lady Cielo C. Sajul got the
gold medal (Lucban), silver medal for Althea Rizel
Polpol (Mauban). For the poomsae team; Moira
Kassandra Cada, Lady Cielo Sajul and Leighton Blair
Tolentino of team Lucban are the gold medalist, on
the other hand the team Mauban got the silver medal;
Denise Danao, Ma. Isabel Sumalbag and Love Day R.
Jaluague.
For girl’s Kyorugi event category 1, Princess
Althea Sangcap (Mauban) got the gold medal, while
silver medal for Abby Marichelle Romana (Lucban).

medal for Yuan Benedict Galicia of Lucban, and
silver medal for Jhovani Saclolo of Mauban.
Category B, Samuel Justine Deapera got the gold
medal (Lucban). And for the poomsae team event,
the team lucban got the gold medal; Yuan Benedict
Galicia, Samuel Justine Deapera and Lord Cedric
Sajul.
Lastly, for the mixed pair, the team Lucban
got the gold medal; Leighton Blair Tolentino and
Lord Cedric Sajul.
Each players gave their very best kick to get
the gold medal.

Meet held at Niyugyugan Hall, Brgy. Rizalian
Mauban Quezon, wowed the judge’s nods to score
a win for Team Mauban. Mancenido hailed as gold
medalist in Taekwondo Secondary Boys last
August 23, 2018.

Badminton congressional meet was held in
Mauban gymnasium on August 23, 2018. It has been
a tough day for every player in this field. Their
eagerness to win for their school and home town
helped them to attain their goal.
Maubanins are well-known athletes in
badminton. Rigor Patino and Chris Jeilo Calucin
failed to get the gold medal against Polillo Team in
Doubles Secondary Boys Category, but luckily they
won silver medal as well as Kier Andrei Cuento of
Mother Perpetua Parochial School.
Meanwhile, in Doubles Girls Secondary
Category, Tricia Mae Nichole Padeca along with her
partner Veyonne Monteverde got the Gold medal
against Polillo. As the crowd get wild and their
hearts beat fast, they need to win for the crowd of
Maubanin. Ashley Shaine Jugueta in Girls Single B
Category also won gold medal against the player of
Lucban. With her agility and strong willpower, it
encouraged her to get on top.
According to Trevor Hoffman,"To achieve
true success, there are no shortcuts." Their training
and positive thinking helped them to reach their

Eagerness, determination, and strong heart
served the Team Mauban Girls Basketball to win
their fight against Team Pagbilao. The first game
was held at Dr. Maria D. Pastrana National High
School last August 22, 2018.
From the very start, Maubanin showed
their strong stamina on the first quarter. Shane Ora
Sierba, the team captain, a student of Manuel S.
Enverga Memorial School of Arts and Trades did
her best shots, assists, and block against the
opponent. She made lots assists and three point
shots that made everyone proud. Mauban scored
74 against Pagbilao who got 59 in the whole
quarter. Opponents didn't get a chance to defeat
them.
As long as unity is in their heart and mind,
no one will ever destroy them and make them
apart. Congratulations Mauban.

Team Mauban competed until the end of
the fight against Infanta players. The game started
with a very strong presence on the court for both
team. The eagerness and the desire to win the fight
were seen in their eyes. Each team gave their best
on the 1st set of the game.
Jaycee Calderero, Grade 11 student of
Manuel S. Enverga Memorial School of Arts and
Trades made points for his team. With multiple
spikes, receives and blocks, their team scored 17.
The team gave all of their best shots just to
win the game but still they failed to get through
the strong defense of the opponent. Though Team
Mauban lose the chance to go through the
provincial meet, but it didn’t break their eagerness
to do better. They look on the positive view of the
game and they look forward to the the next face
off!

After three days of intense battle between the
three warriors’ team namely Lucban, Islanders and
Mauban, only one team had stand out during the
competitions. Lucban football elementary team brought
home the gold medal for their town.
Their first game with Islanders resulted with a
draw because both of the teams work hard to protect
their territory goal before the first game was over. Lucban and Islanders made only a single goal.
On the other hand, their second game with Mauban
football team, Lucban players showed good defense
and determination to make a goal despite of the
very feverish defense of the opponent team, and
before the first half end, Raniel Berrano of Lucban
make auspicious goal that makes his team won in their
second game.
Moreover, Islanders’ football team got the
silver medal, while Mauban players achieved the
bronze medal. All the teams work hard in three
consecutive days of their fight, despite the intense heat
of the sun, the three opponent team showed an
undeniable intense battle, and they deserved to be
called the pride of their own towns.

As part of 1st Congressional District Meet, Dance sport is one
of the event that everyone is excited to witness. The competition
happened last August 24, 2018, Friday night at Mauban
Gymnasium.
There were 4 delegations competing for the different
sequence and event. Delegations from Infanta, Lucban, Mauban
and Pagbilao are competing for the different title.
The program proper starts at exactly 7:45 pm and it was
started with different competitors from 4 delegations on the venue
with their coaches. You can’t see nervousness but their all excited
to show their talent and skills.

When the competition started, all competitors from the
different delegation are all smiles and give their all to win the

Team Mauban conquered the ball!
Last August 24, 2018, championship games
for baskeball girls were held at Dr. Maria D. Pastrana
National High School. Among the twelve towns in
the 1st Congressional District, Mauban, Sampaloc,
Infanta, Islanders, and Lucban reached the final
match.
In Secondary Boys Basketball 3x3, Mauban
was announced as champion. Alongside with this
game, Secondary Boys Basketball 5x5 championship
game, Infanta Province outwins Sampaloc which fell
as the 1st runner-up. Team Mauban was announced
as 2nd runner-up followed by Team Lucban who got
the 3rd runner-up.
Meanwhile, in Secondary Girls Basketball
League, Mauban got the back to back champion.
Secondary Girls Basketball 3x3 instructed by Mr.
Dexter M. Oyardo as their coach, Team Mauban
hailed as Champion. Mauban didn’t let Team Lucban
steal their shots and snatch their rouds to Provincial
Meet.
On the other side, Secondary Girls Basketball
5x5 rose the flag of Mauban as they succeed to be on
top among their opponents. With the final score of 49
(Mauban) and 37 (Sampaloc), in their second face
off, Team Mauban didn’t allow their opponent to
outwin them. The Sierba siblings Shane Ora Sierba
(Grade 12) and Karylle Ashley Sierba (Grade 7) of
Manuel S. Enverga Memorial School of Arts and
Trades, who were considered as the ace players of
the team were more determined to win when they say
the solid support of their coach – Mr. John Kherwin
M. Bandilla, classmates, friends, teachers, and most
especially their very much supportive and proud
parents. With 0 – loss, Team Mauban was
proclaimed as champion, followed by Team
Sampaloc as the 1st runner-up. Islanders was fell as
the 2nd runner-up and Infanta as the 3rd runner-up.

Undoubtedly, Alternative Learning System
(ALS) has evolved into a community of competitive
sporty individuals.
In the badminton matchups of the contenders
from the ALS Centers of the participating
municipalities of Lucban, Sampaloc, Gen. Nakar,
Pagbilao, and Mauban, Marco Polo Del Mundo and
Jessica Alquiroz of Team Mauban seized two gold
medlas for Boys Singles and Girls Singles categories
making them hailed over-all champion in the game.
Arthur Gaur of Gen. Nakar and Andrea Mae Abing
of Pagbilao won the silver medals while Roseller Jr.
Trinidad of Pagbilao and Marife Luna of Gen. Nakar
got the bronze medals. There were no players in
mixed doubles for this year’s event.
In the Girls category for secondary level,
Maegan Caseres gained the gold medal in Singles A.
Trixie Gaelon of Lucban landed for the silver medal
while Jannah Eloisa Dator of Sampaloc scored for
the bronze medal.
Singles B and Doubles were dominated by
Mauban. Ashley Shaine Jugueta (Singles B) and
Veyanne Monteverde and Tricia Mae Nicole Padua
(Doubles) earned the gold medals. Mayvelyn
Rombrefia (Singles B) of Lucban and Angelica
Kristelle Daquiag and Steffany Tuzon (Doubles)
spotted the silver medals. Krizlee Anne Pauline
Tarciano (Singles B) of Sampaloc earned the bronze
medal while the similar spot in the Doubles category
was earned by Didi Glony and Maria Villaluz of
Pagbilao.
The result was obtained in the concluded
three-day badminton clashes during the First
Congressional District Sports Competition held in
Mauban Gymnasium.
Winners of this game are the participants for
the upcoming Provincial Athletic Meet which is
expected to be participated by hundreds of athletes
from the different municipalities in the Division of
Tayabas, Schools Division of Quezon, and Division
of Tayabas.
Muaban will still serve as arena for the said
event.
