ABSTRACT
Due the major changes in living habits, the physical activity of children
and young people seems to be gradually declining, showing a worrying
tendency for habitual physical inactivity in our society (Mota & Sallis, 2002). It is
generally accepted the notion that physical activity is a normal behaviour with
great importance to promoting a healthy lifestyle in childhood and youth.
Nettleton (1997) presents several arguments that suggest an
improvement in academic performance, resulting from the application of daily
regular physical education in school.
Is considered the hypothesis that physical activity in schools can improve
school performance, increasing cerebral blood flow, improving arousal and
changing hormone secretion (Shephard, 1997).
In this sense, this review examined the relationship between physical
activity and academic performance.
This relationship has been subject of research and speculation for many
decades (Lindner, 1999).
The analysis found that physical education and other programs of
physical activity, do not adversely affect school performance. In addition,
benefits to health associated with regular participation in physical education and
with higher levels of physical fitness are related to academic performance.
It is considered that the practice of physical activity in children and
adolescents ought to be widely encouraged in view of their beneficial effects not
only in health but also in school performance.

3. RENDIMENTO ESCOLAR
uma conduta (aprendizagem do aluno) suscitada pela actividade do professor;
do próprio aluno.
instituição, professores e a família do aprendiz (Rodrigues, 1998).
sido analisado sob três perspectivas: as carências do aluno, a estrutura escolar
e a estrutura social.
