TO WHOM IT MIGHT CONCERN:

RE: Mr. David Peffer

Dear Sir/Madam,

This letter is written in enthusiastic support of the application of Mr. David Peffer for a
position in your school district. I made Mr. Peffer’s acquaintance four years ago when he was
assigned as my advisee. I am very impressed with his enthusiasm about teaching, his
professionalism, his diligence, and his creativity. I see these qualities critical to success for
potential teachers.

David is a bright and dedicated student. I was impressed with him from our first meeting. As
a Westminster swimmer, David has had to dedicate himself to a rigorous training schedule and
a demanding course load. Showing notable maturity, he excelled at both. David is thoughtful
and persistent. I think you will find him dedicated to his teaching and to his students. He also
is curious about history and the world. Teachers who excite students are themselves, generally,
excited about understanding more about the world around them. David is such a person.
When I observed his classes, I saw a well-organized, very creative instructor, with thoughtful
plans and flexible implementation, but as importantly, an instructor both excited about his
material and one very sensitive to the emotional needs and academic capabilities of his
students. He has learned, and continues to develop, ways in which to reach his students in a
manner which connects his material to their lives. He exhibited a quiet enthusiasm that
motivated his students.

In addition to being my advisee, David was also in several of my classes. He is a thoughtful

student interested in the interaction of elements of society, past and present. He is a quick
learner willing to invest in new topics and material. I imagine him to be a valuable teacher in a
variety of social studies subjects. Additionally, David is a pleasant and respectful person. He
understands his place, but will speak his mind, respectfully, when appropriate. He is persistent
in obtaining his goals, even as he understands the limitations of certain administrative rules and
procedures. He will be a good team player in your school.

I generally judge the pre-service teachers who are enrolled at Westminster with the “grandchild
test.” Would I want this person teaching my grandchildren? Having had David in the
classroom and having observed him while student teaching, the answer is “yes.” His creativity
and level of preparation likely will make him one of the teachers in your school students are

excited about having as their instructor. Should he take a teaching position in your district
you will find him committed to his students and determined to do well by them.

I recommend David Peffer to you with the highest confidence that you will be pleased with his
performance in the classroom and in his ability to easily fit into your school generally.

Please contact me if I may be of any further assistance.

To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation on behalf of David Peffer, a young man
who student taught in my classroom during the spring semester of 2019. Mr. Peffer proved each day in
my classroom that his character, discipline, integrity, and intellect are superior. He is more than ready to
take over his own classroom. Mr. Peffer will be an asset to his school, a congenial and respectful
colleague, and an inspiration to his students.

Mr. Peffer employs a wide range of best practices in social studies and demonstrates the ability to adapt
and differentiate his teaching to suit the needs of his students. David's work ethic is beyond compare. He
taught freshmen level Advanced U.S. History 1865-Present and junior level U.S. Civics and Government
and always had his lessons planned out and his materials completed at least two weeks ahead of time for
each subject. He taught all seven classes each day for two months. He adapted work for students with
IEPs, and pushed my advanced students to the next level. David's meticulous planning was done in such
a manner that illustrated creativity, organization, and insight into the needs and abilities of his students.

Mr. Peffer is a student centered teacher who works hard to encourage all learners to succeed. David is
personable and yet maintains a proper professional attitude towards his students. Mr. Peffer employs
humor well in his class and provides the students with a safe, secure, and friendly learning environment.
His classroom management is impressive. David is able to maintain a positive learning environment with
students on task on a regular basis.

Mr. Peffer is dedicated to perfecting himself as a teacher and as a person. He seeks constructive
feedback and has a genuine passion and desire to make a difference in the lives of his students.
Furthermore, David has been actively involved in a myriad of extra-curricular activities throughout his
college career, from student government to serving as the captain of the swim team. He manages his time
and his commitments exceptionally well.

I recommend David Peffer to teach at your school district with absolutely no reservations. He would be a
fantastic addition to any school district. I truly believe that David Peffer is inspiring as a teacher and
exceptional as a young man. He is uniquely qualified to teach social studies grades 7-12 and will bring the
total package to his future school. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact
me. Thank you very much for considering David Peffer for your social studies position.

Sincerely,

avid Gibb
