According to the article “Think you’ve got a tough job? Try being a Nurse”
(Roussy, 2018), there are various hazards that a nurse in Canada is facing every single day that
they are at work. These hazards are seriously affecting their total well- being, and do mark their
Nurses go through a lot to deliver the best quality of service and to provide the top of the
line healthcare system to our patients. Not everyone knows that it is a vigorous and rigid process
to carry out our daily task and responsibilities. Nurses have to prepare in all aspect, and must be
always professional, and cannot be easily affected by their emotions. They must adjust and be
fully adept to different situations, including facing death of patient, handling emotionally
unstable patients, and the like. Not everyone knows that Nurses possess one of the most difficult
responsibilities in the world, yet they also have on the most fulfilling job; saving lives.
The importance of knowing what our Nurses are going through and experiencing,
including all the physical, emotional, and psychological turmoil is because all these violence
that Nurses have been undergoing are under-reported, meaning that they are ignored and not
given proper attention and solution to eliminate the problems that have been encountering since
then. Considering that our Nurses plays a very vital role in the accomplishment of a sound,
efficient, and effective healthcare system, then organizations must step up to provide them with
benefits or program which will highlight their contribution to the society, and at the same time,
cater their current needs in order for them to carry out their duties and responsibilities better, as
the saying goes, “ Let us take good care of those who take care of us” (Roussy, 2018)
There are just very few materials or readings that tackle the different issues or hazards
that our nurses are facing, because most of the readings that I’ve encountered just talk about the
current trend or improvement on the current healthy system that we have today.
As we are facing a vast phase of technological advancement, and we must consider the
cost of the publishing, then I think that the best way to relay out message to the public and to
different nursing associations in the country is through creation of blog. Not just that blogs are
thrift to made, it also cover a wide array of readers, from all ages, race, gender, ethnicity. It is
The blog will be a form of message to the nursing associations in Canada, say, Canadian
Nurses Association. There will be continuous sharing of this blog through social media platform
like Facebook, twitter, etc, by the primary stakeholder of the blog, the Nurses. It will tackle
about the different hazards that they come across every day, and its over- all impact to their well-
being. It will also encourage associations to create a detailed comprehensive programs to benefit
our Nurses, say creation of organizations which will enhance their well-being, will provide them
with help 24/7 in times whenever they feel burn-out or exhausted, a competitive yet
comprehensive working schedule in which they will be able to have a balance work-life
management of time. The purpose of writing this blog is for people to understand that our nurses,
beyond the usual happy faces that greets our hospital hallways every day, are also experiencing
different situations at work in which they feel hurt, neglected, but still continue to deliver the
best healthcare service that they can provide. Not everyone is aware of that. The blog will go out
like this:
“As there have been an increasing demand for quality healthcare, Nurses have been the
primary player in the realization of the ultimate goal of a country’s health policy: To be able to
provide the most accessible yet most efficient and effective healthcare to its people. Majority of
the policies being created and implemented focus on one thing, continuous improvement of
healthcare, but the question is, How can you attain your goal if your primary key player feels
stagnated, tired, and burnt- out? Who will take care of us if our Nurses can’t even take care of
themselves? According to research, there are a significant percentage of nurses which are
basically unhealthy, Imagine someone who takes care of you to be healthy, is actually the one
who is not? These things might go unnoticed, but this is very important for us in order get the
best quality of service. We don’t want our nurses to work just for the sake of salary.
We want them to work because serving people is their passion, and they find it enjoyable
and fulfilling, and at the same time they get benefit in return. We want to establish a 2-way
street. We also to establish a safe and sound working environment as reports show that some
nurses suffers from physical and verbal abuse. Hospitals must create a policy wherein reported of
violence in all forms must be seriously taken into account and must be given proper attention, to
Let us help build a harmonious working environment for our Nurses. Let us give them the
care that they needed, in order form them to fulfill their duties and responsibilities in the best
way possible. Let us take care of the people who take good care of us”
While doing this assignment, I came across with a research wherein it cites particular
situations wherein nurses experienced violation in their workplace, or nurses tend to forget their
own well- being just to carry our their duties and responsibilities. It came a bit as a surprise that
this was not highlighted in social media, maybe because the focus is always the quality of
healthcare that is being provided, but certainly missed to discuss or talk about the status of the
healthcare providers.
There must be a close monitoring from hospitals or associations that will cater the needs
and wellbeing of their nurses. I will continue to write about this campaign, to hold various talks
with my co-nurses, or in the long run, form a not- profit organization wherein it its main purpose
is to improve the over-all wellbeing of nurses. One person can just influence a few, but in a
collective, it can influence a vast majority of people, thus resulting to improvement and change.
