ABSTRACT

This qualitative research was conducted to compare direct way of communication and

technological way of communication using a survey-interview approach among Senior High

School students here in the Cebu Institute of Technology- University. This comparative study

determines the advantages and disadvantages in maintaining a conversation. Direct

communication involves saying what a person thinks and feels, and it is marked by active listening

and effective feedback and on the other hand, people tend to depend on technology in which

participants not only exchange information, and feelings but also create and share meaning with
one another. Based on the results from the survey, the researchers found out that both direct and

technological communication is effective in means of communication, but it differs on the personal

preference of a person. However, the researchers recommend engaging both in direct

communication and technological communication to be totally aware of what type of

communication specifically supposed to be used depending on the situation they are in.
