 Message
With great pleasure, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our distinguished
speakers and all local and overseas participants to PENSMA Congress 2018.

It has been several years since clinical nutrition gained its due recognition among
clinicians and allied health professionals. Through these years we have seen
a lot of momentum in the practice to reap the full benefit of nutrition in major
disciplines. Realisation of nutrition as an integral part of patient’s management
has slowly but surely improved clinical outcomes. Though it was a bit of a late
growth compared to other countries, nevertheless, Malaysia has put itself to a
better standing in terms of evidence based clinical nutrition. Traditional practice
of yester years has slowly begun to cease yet this does not mean our effort has
come to an end. It gives us more encouragement to further explore possibilities
that have never been explored before. Care among the outpatients as an
extension or continuation of hospital care is another big opportunity yet to be fully
delved into. Home PN and care for the enteral tube feed patients require a timely
relook and revamp on its policy. Hence the theme “Prioritization of Outcomes in
Clinical Nutrition” fits its objectives for this Congress. The topics lined up for this
Congress truly reflects the current needs in Malaysia as for today.

I hope all participants will take the opportunity to learn as much as possible and
share their experience with our distinguished speakers. For the practicing allied
health professionals whom we always regard as the main pillars of patient’s care,
we have enhanced the hands-on workshop in this Congress with better materials
and information for their daily clinical practice.

So, let’s PENSMA Congress 2018 begin with a new spirit to improve future
patient’s care and bring our health care delivery to a new height.

 Message
A warm welcome to all participants, guest faculty and friends from the biomedical
industry to the PENSMA Congress 2018.

The Scientific Committee has worked hard to bring you an exciting meeting
which, we believe, is not only practical, but relevant to your day-to-day work in the
hospital. This Congress’ theme of “Prioritization of Outcomes in Clinical Nutrition”
will highlight some of the latest information in the area of clinical nutrition relevant
to us here. Our diverse range of topics, hopefully, will meet the needs of our
heterogeneous audience who comprise clinicians, dietitians, nurses, pharmacists
and other healthcare personnel with interest in clinical nutrition. We have invited
a faculty of speakers, both from abroad and locally, who are experts in their
respective fields.

We hope that the PENSMA Congress 2018 will be a great opportunity for
physicians, surgeons, dietitians, pharmacists, scientists, nurses and allied health
professionals, dedicated to the field of nutrition and metabolism, to meet and
discuss the most recent update in an informal atmosphere as well as strengthening
old and new collaborations.

Our Congress which previously ran over three days will now run over two days.
Despite this, we promise a fruitful and informative series of talks. For the second
time, we are truly honored to have the LLL course held in conjunction with
our congress. LLL, which is Life Long Learning Module of ESPEN, is part of a
borderless education in nutritional sciences and we in Malaysia should take this
opportunity to attend.

I look forward to welcoming all of you to this academic rewarding Congress.
