JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
*Senior Finance Manager reports to the Director of Finance - Capital, Planning, Safety and
Support.
* Act as facilitator of business processes and initiatives as well as ensure controls and policies are
adhered to.
* Responsible and accountable for the controllership functions in the Business Groups. Ensure
financial and internal control for business processes and protection of assets. Implement and
monitor policy and procedures in the business units to ensure compliance with corporate policy
and financial risk management policies.
* Responsible and accountable for budgeting, performance and management reporting for the
Business Groups. Lead or participate in the annual planning, work planning and resource
allocation prioritization as member of the appropriate Executive Team Members’ leadership
teams.
* Maintain sound knowledge of the Business Groups’ core business functions, business processes
and financial transactions. Application of BC Hydro’s accounting model, costing methodology and
systems.
* Deliver all management and cost accounting services to provide timely and accurate recording
and reporting of cost information for decision making. Know the Business Groups’ costs and/or
recoveries, the Business Groups’ assets and balance sheet and net income impacts.
* Effectively provide management consultation and decision support services to the Business
Group management teams, front line managers and senior technical staff. Provide financial
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 12 years’ experience in a similar position with at least 4 of those years with BC
Hydro, or similar large organization, in a financial management position is required.
* Ability to plan, manage and control through a staff of Finance Professionals and the financial
aspects of the Business Groups.
* Enjoys working in a team environment but can act independently in making business decisions
as required.
* Acts as the Business Group's liaison between the Corporate Finance and Regulatory Groups in
regards to financial, accounting, reporting and internal control matters.
* Good knowledge of accounting practices and principles and effective internal control concepts
and their effective application in a large, complex utility environment.
* In-depth knowledge of BC Hydro accounting and financial management policies and procedures.
Understanding of IFRS accounting standards.
* Please note this is a M3 Full-Time Regular M&P opportunity based in Burnaby at our Edmonds
location.
