Part 1: After checking the Unit 1 Topic 2: Modal Verbs, write 1 sentence using each
one of the following modal verbs regarding your role as citizen: can – could – may -
must - should - ought to – have to – need to- had better - would.
1. I can choose my ideology, although I cannot believe in politicians, they almost
always lie to get their goals.
2. I could be more participative in politics but when every day I see corruption gain
ground in the country I lose my faith.
3. I may respect the law because this rules have been made for our welfare
4. I must obey the law because if not, I could be go jail
5. Everyone should cross the streets respecting the traffic light.
6. People ought to walk always by the right side.
7. Citizens have to rights and obligations in a society.
8. People need to know the constitution for assert their rights
9. If you eat an empanada at street in Colombia you’d better leave it or eat it so fast
before police come.
10. Cities would be better places for living if citizen do not throwing garbage on the

Things I was doing last night

1. Last night I was studying English. Improving my languages skills at home.
2. When I came at home yesterday at night I prepared my food.
3. Last night I was sitting in front of my computer reading a manual about information
security, it was near to 11:00 pm.
4. I was chatting whit a friend who lives in Medellin.
5. Last night I went out walking around the neighborhood thinking about the work I
should do, suddenly when I was walking in front of the church I met with a friend
and we was talking by hours.
Things I weren’t doing last night
6. Last night I wasn’t watching TV, I haven’t cable, so I decide don’t watching TV,
except when I download some movie so I copy to USB and play on TV because yes
I do not pay for original movies.
7. Last night I was not drinking beer, so bad but today I had to go to work.
8. I wasn’t reading a book I started to read some months ago, I should to finish to read
it.
9. I was not talking by phone with a coworker.
10. Last night I was not reading the newspaper although I read its online publication.

The Paradise on earth

My next vacation will be to the Amazonas, so I planning the first day walk around the
hotel, I’ve heard it has like a sanctuary or zoo something like that where you can find some
animals, so I will see it, then I’m thinking to talk with people who offer excursions to some
attractions like ride buffalos or visit the island of the monkeys, I hope see pink dolphins,
swimming in the Amazonas river, fishing, and walk through the forest at night, listening to
nocturnal animals and breathing pure air, though you should be careful with mosquitoes
and snakes, I’m sure that will be an amazing experience.
The second day I’ll go to the isla de los micos, I think I’ll get up early, take the breakfast
and go to the island, I will be there for some hours then I’ll go to Puerto Nariño there I will
have the lunch and maybe buy some souvenirs, really I do not know what else I can do
there maybe meet some people, talk around and then come back to the hotel, swimming in
the hotel pool, see the sunset, I’ve heard it is beautiful.
I’m not sure what I’ll do the third day but something is sure I’ll be in the parrots park at
sunset in the Leticia city one of my vacation days, I’ve heard every sunset comes hundred
maybe thousands of parrots at park, if you go to Leticia this is something you shouldn’t
miss it, its sounds and beauty are amazing, it-s are one of my favorites birds, something
else I want to see it's the Regia Victoria, in the middle of the park there is a little lake where
you can find it, the same day but in the morning I'll visit Tabatinga in Brazil at other side of
Leticia border, at night perhaps I'll go out and drinking a beer.

MY TRIP TO THE COFFEE PARK

In the first day I will wear comfortable and cool clothes, because usually the weather in the
park of the coffee is warm, I will go to know the places that the park of the coffee has, this
way I will make a list of the places that more call my attention, with these places I could
make a chronogram of activities for the following two days of visit to the park, in the
following days I want to arrive earlier to the park to be able to do all my activities of the
chronogram.
In the second day of visit to the park of the coffee could enter to the best attractions that the
park has, like the roller coaster, boats chocones, etc. also I will go to see the spectacle of the
coffee, the station of the train and the tower of the viewpoint, these places are very pleasant
and the people advise to know them if these of visit for the park of the coffee, also I will
take money to eat some snack in the restaurant.
in the third day of visit in the park of the coffee I will take comfortable clothes to walk and
I will take water, in this day I could realize more tourist activities like: to visit the
indigenous cemetery, to go of walk for the bambusario and the route of the coffee, also I
could realize a horse ride and to visit the museum of archaeology, finally I will visit the
store of souvenirs and I will buy some reminders to take them to my family, this way it will
be my chronogram of activities of visit to the park of the coffee.

Part 3
A perfect vacation for the family
We could possibly travel this year to Greece, I want to visit that country because I think that is a
beautiful place that has much to offer for me and family, I may save enough money to go there, I
really want to see the scene that the country has to offer to my eyes, I want to swim and go to
many places, the first day we arrive we should look for a nice hotel near the center because it is
better that way, I want to take many pictures the first day for the memories.

The second I want to visit Atenas that mythical place that was born thousands of years ago and
that has been the birthplace of magnificent people and of course, where democracy was born. I
also want to see the monuments that the city offers and to be able to take many photos with my
family.

On the last day I hope to go to eat in some nice restaurant and try different food, then that night I
want to visit the island of Mykonos which is well known for it’s party spirit in the summer season, I
want to celebrate a little with my partner for the vacation and meet other people from different
parts of the world that surely they will be there.

MY NEXT HOLIDAYS

In July I will go to Santander with some friends. I will stay at my friend's house in the center
of Santander and I will have a great time. For me, the most exciting thing is that my friend's
mother will make a cooked mountain, one of my favorite foods. We can also take pleasant
walks through the towns of Santander. I will burn a little on the beach, but otherwise I will
enjoy the cool weather, the food and the beautiful scenery.

I will go out with my friends to the parties, to the beach, to the park, to the shopping center, I
will watch movies, I will play football and I will go to the disco. If I can, I'm going to visit my
grandmother and my grandfather, because I did not see them for long. I would like to go with
them and do a piknick. I think my family will also travel, I would like to go with them. Well, my
vacation plans are very simple this year, but I'm sure I'm going to have fun. One of the things
that I will not forget are the unique moments that I will spend with my family and friend.

In the next holidays I will travel to Europe. I will meet many places. My hotel will be next to
the Eiffel Tower, so every night I will take a picture of the tower. In the afternoon I will go
shopping, I will buy makeup for my girlfriend and clothes for my sister. I'm so excited to go on
vacation to Europe, so I can not wait.

Part 3
CARTAGENA HISTORIC CITY

In my next vacation, I would like to know one of the most touristic places in Colombia, which is
Cartagena. Since it is a very beautiful place, according to what my friends have told me. In
addition, for the first time I could know the sea. Once there I will take advantage of the first day to
enjoy its beaches. I would also like to go by boat and observe the fish that are nearby. At night, I
would like to be with my family on the beach with a bonfire enjoying their company under the
stars.
The second day I will dedicate it to enjoy the history that this beautiful city offers. For this, I will go
to the Castle of San Felipe, the Plaza de las Bóvedas, Santo Domingo Square or The Clock Tower.
All should know the history of this city since it is part of the beginning of our country. After this, I
would like to try the different typical dishes that are offered there.

Finally, on the third day, I will try to approach the fauna of this place, for that, I would go to Isla del
Rosario, where there is an aquarium that has an impressive natural beauty and an infrastructure
that makes it one of the most beautiful aquariums in the Caribbean. While I am in the city, I will
not forget to buy some souvenirs for some friends.
